Marko Bakovic

Power forward Marko Bakovic (205-PF-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Gorica, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 28-year old player was the main contributor (26 points, five rebounds) to his team’s victory, helping them to crush Klosterneuburg (#12, 1-3) with 18-point margin 96-78. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Gorica was forced-out from the top positions in Alpe-Adria-Cup. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost that single game earlier this season. Gorica will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. In the team’s last game Bakovic had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. It’s his second year at Gorica and it’s hard to imagine this team without him. Marko Bakovic has solid league stats. He is in league’s top in points (5th best: 17.7ppg) and averages impressive 82.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round’s games was 26-year old Bosnia and Herzegovina Jure Zubac (203-F-95, agency: PEPI SPORT) of Inter Bratislava. Zubac had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Inter Bratislava was edged by Decin (1-2) 80-79. This loss caused Inter Bratislava to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 1-2 record. Zubac is a newcomer at Inter Bratislava, but is already one of team’s top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#4). He also registered 11.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Inter Bratislava’s star – American guard Trevor Blondin (193-PG-96). Blondin scored 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Blondin’s great performance Inter Bratislava lost 79-80 to Decin (1-2). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. The chances of Inter Bratislava not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Blondin could try to bring Inter Bratislava’s a little bit higher in the standings. Blondin has individually a great season in Alpe-Adria-Cup. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 22.0ppg (2nd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
