Pulliam will join his new team-mates on the road this weekend as they await the green-light for him to hit the ground running in an Eagles jersey. Club officials are working behind the scenes to secure the clearance and licences needed for the US star to feature in Saturday’s Super League Basketball clash at Bristol.
“I want to come in and bring high energy defence, as well as my high-level playmaking ability to orchestrate the offense and help the team win games,” said the former San Diego State Aztecs star. “It’s exciting to join the team and become part of the Newcastle Eagles.”
Pulliam joins the Eagles at a pivotal stage of the season with Marc Steutel’s men en route to this month’s SLB Trophy Final in Birmingham and with their ENBL quarter-final ticket punched. And although Newcastle have enjoyed a superb start to the 2024/25 campaign it has long been acknowledged that a pure playmaker could be the missing piece.
After landing Pulliam he said: “We are really excited to welcome Trey to our group. When looking to add to this roster — who I have full belief in — I want to make sure I’m bringing in the right person and the right player. We believe Trey is just that. He’s a talented, team-first point guard, who cares about winning and we are looking forward to getting him acclimated with our group.”
This weekend’s Trophy Final dress rehearsal at the Flyers could come too soon to get some quality court time under his belt before the two teams clash in Birmingham on January 26. But Pulliam is certain to suit-up against London on January 17 in what promises to be a mouth watering Championship clash.
