Winner League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 13 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 13 in the Winner League took place in Jerusalem. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of much higher ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (10-3) to sixth ranked Ramat Gan (8-5) 87-86 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hapoel Jerusalem. M.Ramat Gan shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American forward Amin Stevens (203-1990, college: FAMU) stepped up and scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Roi Huber (188-1997) chipped in 21 points. Ramat Gan’s coach Shmuel Brenner used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international Khadeen Carrington (193-1995, college: Seton Hall) responded with 21 points and 4 assists. Ramat Gan have a solid series of three victories in a row. M.Ramat Gan moved-up to fifth place, which they share with H.Holon. H.Jerusalem at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. M.Ramat Gan is looking forward to face higher ranked Bnei Hertzeliya (#4) in Hod Hasharon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. H.Jerusalem will play on the road against the league’s leader H.Tel-Aviv in Tel Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Winner League top team – Hapoel Tel-Aviv (12-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Hapoel Haifa (2-11) 108-79. American guard Antonio Blakeney (193-1996, college: LSU) nailed 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Tomer Ginat accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American forward Tyler Bey (201-1998, college: Colorado) came up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for H.Haifa in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have an impressive series of five victories in a row. H.Tel-Aviv maintains first place with 12-1 record. H.Haifa at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. H.Tel-Aviv will play against H.Jerusalem (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. H.Haifa will play against the league’s second-placed M.Tel-Aviv (#2) in Tel Aviv and hopes to get back on the winning track.

M.Tel-Aviv will meet at home bottom-ranked H.Haifa (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. H.Afula will play against Kiryat Ata (#13) and hope to secure a win.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13: E.Netanya was destroyed by I.Ness Ziona on the opponent’s court 91-72. H.Galil Elion unfortunately lost to H.Be’er Sheva in a home game 60-74. H.Holon managed to beat Kiryat Ata on the road 87-72. Bnei Hertzeliya defeated H.Gilboa Galil on its own court 88-83.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 27 points and 8 rebounds by John Meeks of Bnei Hertzeliya.
H.Afula – M.Tel-Aviv 75-87
The game in Afula was also quite interesting. Second ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (11-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Afula (5-8). Maccabi Tel-Aviv defeated Afula 87-75 on Monday. Rather expected game in Nes Ziyona where 12th ranked E.Netanya (3-10) was crushed by ninth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (6-7) 91-72 on Friday. I.Ness Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Bryce Brown (190-1997, college: Auburn) fired 30 points for the winners. Point guard Darnell Edge (188-1997, college: FDU) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Swingman Kyler Edwards (193-1999, college: Houston) produced 20 points and 4 assists and forward Bryce Washington (203-1996, college: Louisiana) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four E.Netanya players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ironi Nes-Ziona. I.Ness Ziona moved-up to seventh place. E.Netanya lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. They share it with Kiryat Ata. American guard Cody Demps (193-1993, college: Sacramento St.) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Lucas Goldenberg (196-1993) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and American Rawle Alkins (197-1997, college: Arizona) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five H.Be’er Sheva and four H.Galil Elion players scored in double figures. H.Be’er Sheva moved-up to eighth place, which they share with H.Galil Elion and H.Afula.
