The biggest surprise took place in Berlin where host ALBA Berlin (5-8) beat league’s leader Bayern Muenchen (9-4) 88-81 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. ALBA looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center David McCormack (208-1999, college: Kansas) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Matt Thomas (195-1994, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Devin Booker (205-1991, college: Clemson) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Hamburg. Defending champion Bayern still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Ulm who have the same record. Bayern will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. ALBA will try to continue on its current victory against sixteenth ranked Frankfurt on the road.
Another exciting game was between eighth ranked Bonn and 5th ranked Braunschweig where Bonn (8-6) rolled over Braunschweig (8-5) on the road with 20-point difference 94-74. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Braunschweig. It was a good game for American guard Phlandrous Fleming Jr. (193-1998, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Darius McGhee contributed with 17 points and 8 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Swedish point guard Barra Njie (191-2001) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds for Braunschweig. Braunschweig’s coach Jesus Ramirez rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Bonn moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Braunschweig at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Bonn will play against Hamburg (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Braunschweig will play against Goettingen (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for Jhivvan Jackson who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was Zachary Ensminger with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. BG Goettingen’s coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Wuerzburg keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Goettingen lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Wuerzburg will meet Oldenburg (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Goettingen will play against Braunschweig (#5) and hope to win that game.
Other games of round 15 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Ulm crushed Bamberg in a road game 98-77. Bamberg was beaten by Hamburg at home 80-83. Vechta lost to Rostock on the opponent’s court 83-87. Weissenfels unfortunately lost to Ulm in a home game 89-92. Frankfurt was rolled over Chemnitz on the road 66-85. Oldenburg defeated Ludwigsburg on its own court 70-64.
The best stats of 15th round was 23 points by Justin Jaworski of Oldenburg.
Bamberg – Ulm 77-98
There was no surprise when 12th ranked Bamberg (6-8) was crushed at home by fifth ranked ratiopharm Ulm (9-4) 98-77 on Thursday. Ulm looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for Israeli point guard Ben Saraf (197-2006) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Isaiah Roby (203-1998, college: Nebraska) helped adding 16 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Kyle Lofton (190-1999, college: Florida, agency: Octagon Europe) with 15 points and the other American import point guard Ronaldo Segu (183-1999, college: Buffalo) scored 9 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ulm keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bamberg keeps the twelfth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Oldenburg. Ulm will meet at home Rostock (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bamberg will play against Ludwigsburg and hope to secure a win.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Rostock where 10th ranked Rasta Vechta (6-6) was defeated by eleventh ranked Seawolves (7-7) 87-83 on Saturday. Rostock made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international Robin Amaize (196-1994) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). American Nijal Pearson (196-1997, college: Texas St.) helped adding 17 points. Four Seawolves players scored in double figures. Seawolves’ coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Tyger Campbell (180-2000, college: UCLA) with 20 points and 7 assists and the other American import swingman Brandon Randolph (198-1998, college: Arizona) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line).
