Bottom-ranked Otef Darom (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 87-75 loss to eleventh ranked H.Safed Galil (5-8) in Safed on Friday evening. They also forced 30 Otef Darom turnovers. Strangely Otef Darom outrebounded H.Safed Galil 39-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Otef Darom helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Bahamas forward Jonathan Augustin-Fairell (201-1993, college: Murray St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Dachon Burke (193-1997, college: USA) chipped in 28 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Vince Cole (198-1998, college: Coastal) who recorded 29 points and 4 assists. H.Safed Galil maintains eleventh place with 5-8 record. Otef Darom at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. H.Safed Galil are looking forward to face H.Izrael (#12) in Nazareth in the next round. Otef Darom will play on the road against H.Eilat and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Ashkelon was also worth to mention about. 4th placed E.Yavne (8-5) played at the court of sixth ranked E.Ashkelon (8-5). E.Ashkelon managed to secure a 5-point victory 93-88. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of E.Yavne. It was a good game for Tomer Cohen (193-1997, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists. Daniel Najar contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Naturalized American power forward Eli Abaev (203-1998, college: FGCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for E.Yavne. E.Yavne’s coach David Elharar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. E.Ashkelon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with I.Nahariya and E.Yavne. E.Ashkelon will play against league’s leader M.Raanana at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. E.Yavne will play against M.Rehovot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Rishon Le-Zion. Local M.Rishon (7-6) beat 12th ranked H.Izrael (3-10) 97-81 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Qua Grant who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Peter Olisemeka with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. M.Rishon moved-up to seventh place, which they share with H.Eilat. Newly promoted H.Izrael keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. M.Rishon will meet higher ranked I.Nahariya (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. H.Izrael will play against H.Safed Galil (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was no surprise when 9th ranked H.Kfar Saba (6-7) was defeated at home by second ranked Ramat Hash. (10-3) 93-84 on Friday. Ramat Hash. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to H.Kfar Saba‘s 34. Ramat Hash. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Ira Lee (203-1998, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Akaemji Williams (175-1996, college: LSSU) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists. Five Ramat Hash. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Sierra Leonean guard Richaud Pack (192-1992, college: Maryland) with 36 points (!!!) and 5 assists and Cameroonian-American forward Alonzo Sule (201-1999, college: JMU) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ramat Hash. maintains second place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader M.Raanana. H.Kfar Saba lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with H.Kfar Qasem. Ramat Hash. will meet at home E.Shomron (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. H.Kfar Saba will play against H.Kfar Qasem (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
