The Regular Season in ProA U21 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 31 in the ProA U21 took place in Pau. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Cholet (25-4) to sixth ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (20-9) 74-73 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Cholet. Pau-Lacq-Orthez shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Swingman Marc-Olivier Lasserre (199-2002) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. point guard Dorian Okemba (187-2002) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Pau-Lacq-Orthez’s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Kevin Marsillon-Noleo (202-2002) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Pau-Lacq-Orthez moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dijon. Cholet at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Pau-Lacq-Orthez is looking forward to face Orleans (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cholet will play against Levallois (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Seventh-ranked Chalons-Reims (17-12) made lots of trouble for third ranked Limoges CSP (21-8). Limoges CSP managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected much easier game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Hugo Desseignet (175-2003) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Yousef Khayat contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Maxime Semelet (199-2002) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds for Chalons-Reims. Chalons-Reims’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Limoges CSP maintains third place with 21-8 record having five points less than leader ASVEL. Chalons-Reims at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Limoges CSP will play against Monaco (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chalons-Reims will play against Paris BA (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Limoges CSP (21-8) against fourth ranked Dijon (20-9) on Friday night. Visiting Limoges CSP was crushed by Dijon in Dijon 86-67. It was a great evening for Hugo Marin-Birkener who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. At the losing side Yousef Khayat responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dijon have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 20-9 record, which they share with Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Loser Limoges CSP keeps the third position with eight games lost. Dijon will meet Nanterre (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Limoges CSP will play against Monaco (#15) and hope to secure a win.
Other games of round 31 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Nanterre was defeated by Levallois in a road game 70-61. Le Portel was smashed by Chalons-Reims at home 77-99. Le Mans lost to ASVEL on the opponent’s court 61-69. Bottom-ranked Paris BA unfortunately lost to Orleans in a home game 59-62. Bourg managed to beat Strasbourg on the road 79-68. Monaco was defeated by Fos-Provence on its own court 91-95. Pau-Lacq-Orthez was smashed by ASVEL in Villeurbanne 95-67.
The best stats of 31th round was 23 points by Kenny Kasiama of ASVEL.
Levallois – Nanterre 70-61
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Nanterre (11-18) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Levallois (20-10) 70-61 on Friday. Levallois forced 20 Nanterre turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Bilal Coulibaly (196-2004) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. Ivorian point guard Assemian Moulare (183-2003) helped adding 20 points and 7 assists. At the losing side power forward Samuel Eyango-Dingo (206-2001) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Jules Bravin (202-2001) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levallois have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 20-10 record. Loser Nanterre keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. Levallois will meet league’s second-placed Cholet on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nanterre will play against Dijon (#4) and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Chalons-Reims (17-12) smashed on the road 11th ranked Le Portel (11-19) 99-77 on Friday. Chalons-Reims dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Le Portel’s 38. Chalons-Reims forced 23 Le Portel turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Alexandre Dogbe (187-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. Maxime Semelet (199-2002) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Chalons-Reims players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Antoine Sobczak (187-2002) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and power forward Thomas Hanquiez (203-2001) scored 19 points (made all of his seven free throws). Chalons-Reims maintains seventh place with 17-12 record. Le Portel lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. They share it with Le Mans. Chalons-Reims will meet at home bottom-ranked Paris BA (#18) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Very expected game in Villeurbanne where 11th ranked Le Mans (11-19) was defeated by first ranked ASVEL (27-1) 69-61 on Saturday. ASVEL outrebounded Le Mans 51-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for Swedish forward Zaba Bangala (200-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Romain Parmentelot (190-2004) helped adding 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Lucas Veraghe (197-2001) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists and Hugo Mienandi (200-2003) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Le Mans players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for ASVEL. They maintain first place with 27-1 record. Loser Le Mans keeps the eleventh position with 19 games lost. They share it with Le Portel. ASVEL will meet Gravelines (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Le Mans will play against Le Portel (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
