Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league’s leader ratiopharm Ulm (5-2). They were defeated by sixteenth ranked ALBA Berlin (3-4) 96-88 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. ALBA looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Ulm helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Trevion Williams (206-2000, college: Purdue) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-1994, college: LIU Brooklyn) who added 11 points and 11 assists during the contest. American guard Justinian Jessup (201-1998, college: Boise St.) responded with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Oldenburg and Vechta. Ulm at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Bayern who have the same record. Ulm will play next round against Goettingen trying to make it back to the top of the standings. ALBA will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Vechta on the road.

Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Ryan Mikesell (201-1996, college: Dayton) who scored that evening 30 points and 5 rebounds and Alex Barcello supported him with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 14 points and 5 rebounds by guard Deion Hammond (193-1999, college: Monmouth, agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Goettingen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Heidelberg maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. Goettingen at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Heidelberg will play against Hamburg (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vechta moved-up to tenth place, which they share with ALBA and Oldenburg. Loser Bamberg dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Vechta will meet at home ALBA (#10) in the next round. Bamberg will play against Weissenfels and hope to secure a win.
There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: Braunschweig lost to Wuerzburg on the opponent’s court 53-70. Rostock unfortunately lost to Bonn in a home game 64-69. Oldenburg recorded a loss to Chemnitz on the road 78-87.

Vechta – Bamberg 101-98
A very close game took place in Vechta between Rasta Vechta and Bamberg. Fifteenth ranked Rasta Vechta (3-4) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked Bamberg (2-4). The other American import point guard Darius McGhee (175-1999, college: Liberty) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard Bryce Hamilton (193-2000, college: UNLV) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and Latvian guard Aigars Skele (193-1992) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Seawolves’ coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Bonn moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wuerzburg.
