Round 3 most important game was a defeat of Bahcesehir (2-1). They were defeated by Besiktas (1-1) 62-55 on Sunday night. It was a great evening for point guard Yagiz Aksu (196-2006) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 assists. Tan Ayyildiz (-2005) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Cagin Isidan (-2005) with 24 points. Bahcesehir will play next round against strong Gelisim Koleji trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Besiktas will try to continue on its current victory against Merkezefendi in Denizl.
Tofas (2-1) recorded a loss in Bursa. Hosts were defeated by Gaziantep (2-0) 90-84. It was an exceptional evening for guard Ibrahim Yilmaz (192-2005) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 9 assists. Arda Birkeser accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Ata Gul (183-2005, college: Olney Central) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for Tofas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gaziantep will play against MST (#19) in Tarsus in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tofas will play on the road against Manisa (#11) in Izmir and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#6) and Galatasaray (#8). Anadolu Efes (2-0) crushed visiting Galatasaray (1-2) by 35 points 94-59. The best player for the winners was Salih Altuntas who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Alperen Duruksu who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes will meet at home Bursaspor (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galatasaray will play against Izmir (#10) and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 3: winless Merkezefendi lost to Istanbul on the opponent’s court 70-85. Bursaspor managed to outperform Darussafaka in a home game 75-67. Winless MST recorded a loss to Buyukcekmece on the road 65-53. Winless Yalova was defeated by Turk Telekom on its own court 71-86. Fenerbahce beat Aliaga Petkim in Istanbul 78-72.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points and 8 rebounds by Emirhan Yilmaz of Aliaga Petkim.


Istanbul – Merkezefendi 85-70

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Merkezefendi (0-2) was defeated on the road by Istanbul (1-2) 85-70 on Sunday. Istanbul looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Burak Tatar (-2006) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Ege Borcali (-2005) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Erhan Bolukbasi (-2006) who recorded 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Efe Yavuz (-2006) added 14 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Istanbul will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Merkezefendi will play against Besiktas (#8) in Istanbul and hopes to get finally their first victory.
