Round 7 most important game was a victory of Serbian Spartak over 8th ranked Croatian Split 91-71 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Split. Spartak dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Split‘s 28 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Spartak looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Spartak made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Rasir Bolton (190-1999, college: Gonzaga, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 assists. Montenegrin power forward Danilo Nikolic (206-1993) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American Shannon Shorter (193-1989, college: N.Texas) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Split. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartak (4-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Igokea and Mega BG. Split at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Spartak is looking forward to face Igokea (#5) in Aleksandrovac in the next round. Split will play on the road against Cibona in Zagreb and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Podgorica. Third ranked UAE Dubai (6-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 7th ranked Montenegrin Derby (3-4) 87-86 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Derby. It was a great evening for Jordanian center Ahmad Dwairi (212-1993) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. Awudu Abass helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Erick Neal (178-1995, college: UT Arlington) responded with 34 points (!!!). Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Dubai moved-up to second place, which they share with Buducnost. Derby at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Dubai will play against league’s leader Partizan in Beograd in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Derby will play at home against Mornar (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Partizan (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Loser FMP BG dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Partizan will meet at home Dubai (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. FMP BG will play against Krka (#14) in Novo Mesto and hope to secure a win.
Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Zadar beat Krka on the road 81-73. Bottom-ranked Mornar won against Cibona on its own court 92-85. Borac managed to outperform Igokea in Cacak 79-72. Buducnost managed to beat Mega BG at home 77-69. Cedevita Ol. was defeated by Crvena zvezda on the opponent’s court 92-86.

Krka – Zadar 73-81
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourteenth ranked Croatian Zadar (2-5) beat 13th ranked Slovenian Krka (2-5) in Novo Mesto 81-73 on Saturday. Zadar outrebounded Krka 29-17. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Marko Ramljak (201-1993) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Lovro Mazalin (204-1997) accounted for 13 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Zadar players scored in double figures. American guard Tayler Persons (191-1995, college: Ball St., agency: Players Group) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists and point guard Jan Span (189-1992) added 21 points respectively for Krka in the defeat. Krka’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Defending Croatian champion moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Krka and Cedevita Ol. Zadar will meet at home Cedevita Ol. (#13) in the next round. Krka will play against FMP BG and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 15th ranked Croatian Cibona (1-6) lost to sixteenth ranked Montenegrin Mornar (1-6) in Bar 85-92 on Monday. Mornar made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Branden Jenkins (196-1994, college: TxWes, agency: AltusBasket) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Canadian center Jaden Bediako (208-2000, college: Seton Hall) accounted for 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Jenkins is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Power forward Filip Bundovic (206-1994) came up with 28 points (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and point guard Roko Rogic (187-1992) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for Cibona in the defeat. Cibona’s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Mornar left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with defeated Cibona. It was Cibona‘s fifth loss in a row. Mornar will meet higher ranked Derby (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cibona will play against Split (#8) and hope to win that game.

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Serbian Borac (3-4) won against higher ranked Bosnian Igokea (4-3) in Aleksandrovac 79-72 on Friday. Borac made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Borac especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for center Djordje Gagic (210-1990) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Lithuanian guard Paulius Valinskas (191-1995) accounted for 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Borac CA players scored in double figures. American point guard Bryce Jones (183-1994, college: Murray St.) came up with 21 points and forward Vojin Ilic (200-2000) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Igokea in the defeat. Igokea’s coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Borac moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Defending Bosnian champion Igokea dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Spartak and Mega BG. Borac will meet at home league’s second-placed Buducnost in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Djordjije Jovanovic (199-2003) accounted for 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Buducnost’s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Bogoljub Markovic (210-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian guard Kosta Kondic (193-2001) added 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Mega BG in the defeat. Defending Montenegrin champion maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Partizan, which they share with Dubai. Mega BG lost their third game in a row. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Crvena zvezda shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian point guard Yago Dos Santos (175-1999) who led the winners and scored 11 points and 9 assists. American Isaiah Canaan (183-1991, college: Murray St.) accounted for 15 points for the winning side.
