There were just four rounds played in Regular Season of Higher League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Second defeat of league’s leader Neftekhimik (6-2) against third ranked Khimki-Podmos. (5-3) 64-56 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Neftekhimik T.. Khimki-Podmos. forced 22 Neftekhimik turnovers. Strangely Neftekhimik outrebounded Khimki-Podmos. 42-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Arseniy Semenov (200-2000, college: W.Texas CC) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Andrey Doroshevich (197-2003) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Forward Egor Chernyshev (196-1999) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for Neftekhimik. Khimki-Podmos. maintains third position with 5-3 record behind leader Dynamo Ufa. Neftekhimik at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Dynamo Ufa who have the same record. Neftekhimik will play next round against league’s leader Dynamo Ufa trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Khimki-Podmos. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Another interesting game for Neftekhimik (6-2) which played on the court of Khimki-Podmos. (5-3). First ranked Neftekhimik had an easy win 81-64. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They maintain first position with 6-2 record, which they share with Dynamo Ufa. Khimki-Podmos. at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Neftekhimik will play against league’s leader Dynamo Ufa at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Khimki-Podmos. will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Kursk between Rusichi and Metallurg. Fifth ranked Rusichi (3-1) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Metallurg (2-6). Rusichi managed to escape with a 2-point win 86-84 on Friday evening. The winners were led by Tsimafei Paraliou who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by Artem Stepantsov did not help to save the game for Metallurg. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rusichi maintains fifth position with 3-1 record. Newly promoted Metallurg keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Rusichi will meet Dynamo-MGTU (#6) in the next round. Metallurg will play against Ural Yekaterinb. in Yekaterinburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Metallurg was smashed by Rusichi on the road 97-76. Desna lost to Dynamo Ufa on its own court 69-76. Bottom-ranked Ural Yekaterinb. was outscored by Cheb.Yastreby in Cheboksari 45-81. Desna recorded a loss to Dynamo Ufa at home 67-81. Bottom-ranked Ural Yekaterinb. was defeated by Cheb.Yastreby on the opponent’s court 77-61.


Rusichi K. – Metallurg 97-76

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Rusichi (3-1) crushed 8th ranked Metallurg (2-6) in Kursk 97-76 on Thursday. Rusichi forced 21 Metallurg turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Bogdan Rublev (197-2007) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Andrey Lysenkov (192-1992) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five Rusichi K. players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 4 assists by swingman Valeriy Kolbin (192-2000) did not help to save the game for Metallurg. Swingman Alexander Puida (195-2003) added 15 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rusichi maintains fifth position with 3-1 record.
