Cairns Taipans (NBL) added to their roster 28-year old American guard Deshon Taylor (188cm-84kg-1996, college: Fresno State). Taylor played last season at Final Spor in Turkish TBL league. In 39 games he recorded very impressive stats: 19.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.6apg and 1.3spg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week (2 times) and voted to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TBL Second Team.
Taylor was also selected to MWC All-Defensive Team back in 2018 and 2019.
The previous (2022-23) season he played at Kouvot in Finnish Korisliiga where in 26 games he was the best scorer with remarkable 25.4ppg and had 4.0rpg, 3.9apg and 1.6spg in that year. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com Finnish Korisliiga All-Imports Team, League Player of the Week (5 times) and Eurobasket.com All-Finnish Korisliiga Second Team.
Thanks to Taylor’s pro career he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Australia and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Hungary (Atomeromu), New Zealand (Rams) and Australia (Kings).
His team won Australian NBL Regular Season in 2020.
Taylor graduated from Fresno State in 2019 and it will be his sixth season as a professional player. He was also selected to MWC All-Defensive Team back in 2018 and 2019. Taylor played also for University of Missouri – Kansas City for one year.
