27-year old American point guard Jordan Barnes (178-PG-1997) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Cedi Osman Basketbol Spor Kulubu Istanbul and receives a Hoops Agents TBL Player of the Week award for round 8.
He got a double-double of 34 points and 10 assists, while his team beat Gaziantep (#17, 3-5) 79-74. Cedi Osman is placed at 8th position in Turkish TBL. Cedi Osman is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-4 record. In the team’s last game Barnes had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Cedi Osman‘s top player in his first season with the team. Indiana State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Barnes is in league’s top in points (6th best: 21.8ppg) and assists (3rd best: 7.0apg).
Second best performed player last round was Marcus Shaver Jr. (188-G-1998) of Kapakli Spor Tekirdag. He is American guard in his first season at Kapakli Spor. In the last game Shaver Jr. recorded an impressive 35 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Kapakli Spor to another comfortable win 88-74 over Anka Spor (#18, 0-8) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Kapakli Spor dropped in the standings to 12th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 4-4 record is not bad and everything may still change. Shaver Jr. is a newcomer at Kapakli Spor and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 5.1rpg and 4.9apg.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Alonzo Verge Jr (190-G-1998, agency: Octagon Europe) of Balikesir Buyuksehir Belediyespor (#14). Verge Jr scored 26 points and passed 12 assists (!!!). He was a key player of Balikesir BBS, leading his team to a 86-72 easy win against the higher-ranked Ormanspor (#6, 4-4). The chances of Balikesir BBS not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 5 games, recording just three victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Verge Jr could try to bring Balikesir BBS’s a little bit higher in the standings. Verge Jr has a very solid season. In 2 games in Turkey he scored 29.5ppg.
