After 8 rounds played we can already see who rules in the ProB and who belongs to weaker ones. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 8 in the ProB took place in Fos-sur-Mer. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 11th ranked Provence Basket (4-4) to top-ranked ADA Blois (7-0) 65-63 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Timothe Vergiat (188-1998) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists and naturalized Chadian power forward Jacques Alingue (201-1988) who added 8 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Senegalese center Mamadou Niang (210-1994) responded with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Undefeated ADA Blois have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Fos-sur-Mer at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Blois will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fos-sur-Mer will play on the road against Vichy (#15) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Saint Chamond (5-3) against thirteenth ranked Calvados (4-4) on Friday night. Host Saint Chamond was defeated by Calvados in a tough game in Saint Chamond 73-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Saint Chamond. The winners were led by American swingman Wendell Davis (196-1995, college: Ashland) who scored that evening 20 points and Kentan Facey supported him with 15 points and 5 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Calvados’ coach Stephane Eberlin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points by power forward Mael Hamon-Crespin (206-2004, college: WSU, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Saint-Chamond. Caen moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Saint-Chamond at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Aix-Maurienne and Gries-Souffel. Caen will play against bottom-ranked Nantes (#20) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Saint-Chamond will play against Antibes (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
C’Chartres has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Denain Voltaire (3-5) on the road game in Denain 88-86 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Desi Washington who scored 27 points and 8 assists. C’Chartres’ coach Moatassil Rhennam used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Lovell Cabbil produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists for the hosts. C’Chartres (1-7) left bottom position moving up to nineteenth place, which they share with Nantes. It was Denain-Voltaire‘s third loss in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Chartres will meet at home higher ranked Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#9) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Denain-Voltaire will play against Evreux (#18) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 8: Hyeres-Toulon lost to Orleans on the opponent’s court 65-78. Roanne managed to outperform Gries-Souffel in a home game 111-106. Aix-Maurienne managed to beat Rouen on the road 90-78. Antibes defeated Evreux on its own court 73-71. Pau-Lacq-Orthez was beaten by Chalons-Reims in a road game 84-78. Poitiers lost to Boulazac at home 76-86. Nantes unfortunately lost to Vichy on the opponent’s court 66-81.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 8 points and 5 rebounds by Ugo Doumbia of Vichy.

Orleans – Hyeres-Toulon 78-65

Very expected game when 16th ranked Hyeres-Toulon (2-6) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Entente Orleans 45 (5-2) 78-65 on Saturday. Orleans made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Hyeres-Toulon turnovers. The best player for the winners was Croatian Tomislav Gabric (204-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 20 points. American guard Lee Moore (194-1995, college: UTEP, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Guard Mateo Bordes (198-2004) produced 18 points and power forward Quentin Losser (202-1999) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests.
