It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in Superettan, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Ockelbo (3-2) and seventh ranked Alvik (3-2) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Ockelbo was defeated by Alvik in a tough game in Stockholm 76-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ockelbo. Alvik made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was center Mikael Axelsson (208-1994) who scored 8 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Wiggo Lloclla (200-2000) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Jonathan Ninkingira (198-1999, college: Three Rivers) produced 19 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Alvik moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Ockelbo. Alvik’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Stockholm Djurgarden.
Bottom-ranked Tureberg (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-87 loss to eleventh ranked Akersberga (2-3) in Stockholm. Forward Hampus Ahlin (195-1995, college: Nova SE) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists. Philip Gjerulf contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Vince Preston (-2004) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds for Tureberg. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akersberga moved-up to ninth place, which they share with KFUM Black. Tureberg at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Akersberga’s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Stockholm .
We should mention about the upset which took place in Vallingby, where 4th placed Malbas (3-3) lost to eleventh ranked KFUM Black. (2-3) in a road game 57-63 on Saturday. Simon Tekeste stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. KFUM Black.’s coach Olle Lunden used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Jacob Mansson responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds. KFUM Black. moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Akersberga. Loser Malbas dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. KFUM Black. will meet at home Aros (#13) in the next round. Malbas will play against Tureberg (#14) and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 5 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Malbas were defeated by Djurgarden in Stockholm 69-65. Aros were beaten by AIK Basket at home 83-92. Alvik destroyed Huddinge on the opponent’s court 98-69. Sloga Uppsala outscored Huddinge in a home game 100-72.
The best stats of 5th round was 26 points and 12 rebounds by Dragan Damjanovic of Sloga Uppsala.



KFUM Black. – Malbas 63-57

We should mention about the upset which took place in Vallingby, where 4th placed Malbas (3-3) lost to eleventh ranked KFUM Black. (2-3) in a road game 57-63 on Saturday. Center Simon Tekeste (199-2006) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Isac Weibring (-2006) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds. KFUM Black.’s coach Olle Lunden used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Jacob Mansson (199-2002, college: NJIT, agency: VM Hoops Agency) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and guard Kasper Hagberg (186-1998) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. There was an upset in Stockholm where 4th placed Malbas (3-3) were defeated by tenth ranked Djurgarden (2-2) 69-65 on Sunday. Djurgarden had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard John Thornblom (194-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and guard David Niklasson (193-1995, college: N.Platte CC) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Djurgarden’s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Jacob Mansson (199-2002, college: NJIT, agency: VM Hoops Agency) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds and forward Alexander Smakowski (188-2000) scored 17 points. Djurgarden moved-up to eighth place. Loser Malbas dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked AIK Basket‘s (2-1) road victory over 12th ranked Aros (1-4) 92-83 on Sunday. AIK Basket made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. AIK Basket outrebounded Aros 43-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. AIK Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nassim Mrabty (-1999) stepped up and scored 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Valter Lumpus (-2002) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Guard Oskar Ekh (190-1999) responded with 33 points (!!!), 5 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Mir Nasradin (193-1994) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. AIK Basket moved-up to seventh place. Aros lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. AIK Basket will meet at home higher ranked Ockelbo (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aros will play against KFUM Black. (#10) in Vallingby and hope to win that game.

Naturalized Serbian forward Dragan Damjanovic (203-1988) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Bosnian-North Macedonian center Marko Dujkovic (226-1990) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sloga Uppsala’s coach Predrag Gaic felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Eskil Morin (-2005) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Finnish forward Waheid Sabt (197-2001) scored 18 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sloga Uppsala have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Loser Huddinge dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Sloga Uppsala will meet league’s second-placed Fryshuset in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Huddinge will play against the league’s leader Wetterbygden (#1) in Huskvarna and hope to secure a win.
