First defeat of league’s leader Miast Szkla (4-1) against twelfth ranked Rzeszow (3-2) 96-92 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Miast Szkla. Rzeszow looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rzeszow made 7 blocks. Forward Kacper Mlynarski (202-1992) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. point guard Dawid Zagula (185-1996) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Center Przemyslaw Wrona (205-1993) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Krosno. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Rzeszow have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Inowroclaw and Poznan. Krosno at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Opole who have the same record. Krosno will play next round against Bydgoszcz trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Rzeszow will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Poznan on the road.
lsk‘s fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked LKS Lodz (2-3) 78-65. Finnish guard Teemu Suokas (188-2001, college: Ball St., agency: Blacktop Management) stepped up and scored 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Oskar Hlebowicki chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Antypov (203-1995) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. lsk (1-4) left bottom position moving up to sixteenth place, which they share with WKK Wroclaw. Newly promoted LKS Lodz keeps the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Slask 2 will play against higher ranked Pelplin (#5) in Pelpin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. LKS Lodz will play on the road against Starogard Gd. (#12) in Starogard Gdanski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Zak is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to seventh ranked Decka (4-2) 76-74 on Sunday evening. Blazej Czerniewicz nailed 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Jahmal McMurray came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Koszalin in the defeat. Zak’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Pelplin moved-up to fifth place. Lancut managed to outperform Radom in a road game 81-76. Inowroclaw managed to beat WKK Wroclaw at home 85-83. Opole crushed Kolobrzeg on the opponent’s court 81-60. Starogard Gd. beat Poznan in a home game 81-69. Bydgoszcz lost to Sopot on the road 91-93. Tychy unfortunately lost to Polonia W-wa on its own court 76-87. Bottom-ranked Slask 2 recorded a loss to Pelplin in Pelpin 79-88.
Lancut – Tychy 87-80
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Sokol (4-1) beat 9th ranked GKS (2-3) in Lancut 87-80 on Wednesday. Strangely Tychy outrebounded Lancut 37-23 including 27 on the defensive glass.
