It’s still too early stage of the Regular Season in 2SKL, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Ipros Vrhnika (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Hopsi Polzela on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Hopsi Polzela 92-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ipros Vrhnika. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Hopsi Polzela dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Ipros Vrhnika‘s 34. Hopsi Polzela looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Ipros Vrhnika‘s players. Center Ziga Fifolt (210-1993) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Miha Vasl (192-1992, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 24 points and 5 steals. Naturalized Montenegrin Mensud Julevic (201-1985) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hopsi Polzela have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Ipros Vrhnika at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Jance. Hopsi Polzela are looking forward to face Portoroz (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ipros Vrhnika will play against the league’s leader Slovan (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Undefeated leader Slovan delivered the fourth consecutive victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Jezica (0-4) 92-79 in Ljubljana. Worth to mention a great performance of Matic Lamut (199-2003) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Aleksandar Markovic contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Tim Sujica (194-2002) replied with 21 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for Jezica. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slovan have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Jezica at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Slovan will play against Ipros Vrhnika (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Jezica will play against Plama Pur (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
We should mention about the upset which took place in Litija, where higher ranked Litija (1-2) lost at home to eleventh ranked Hidria (2-2) 71-78 on Saturday. At the losing side Mark Babsek responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Litija’s coach Dzemo Ibisi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Hidria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Litija dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with Celje. Hidria will meet at home higher ranked Jance (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Litija will play against Nova Gorica (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Rest of the games of round 4 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Portoroz was defeated by Jance in Ljubljana 79-75. Plama Pur was beaten by Grosuplje at home 58-64. Nova Gorica destroyed Celje on the opponent’s court 91-64.
The best stats of 4th round was 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by Milutin Vidic of Nova Gorica.
Litija – Hidria 71-78
We should mention about the upset which took place in Litija, where higher ranked Litija (1-2) lost at home to eleventh ranked Hidria (2-2) 71-78 on Saturday. Litija’s coach Dzemo Ibisi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Hidria moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. There was no surprise in Ljubljana where 8th ranked Portoroz (1-3) was defeated by sixth ranked Jance (2-1) 79-75 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Jure Licen (197-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Aljaz Bratec (192-1998) who added 23 points during the contest. Four Jance players scored in double figures. At the losing side Matic Pristopnik (-1999) responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian Bojan Markovic (-2005) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Jance moved-up to third place, which they share with Ipros Vrhnika. Loser Portoroz dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Jance will meet Hidria (#6) in the next round. Portoroz will play against the league’s second-placed Hopsi Polzela (#2) and hope to win that game.

Worth to mention a great performance of Luka Kuselj (-2003) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 7 rebounds and Jost Oven (-2003) who added 6 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman Anze Srebovt (196-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds and Primoz Skrlj (-2005) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Grosuplje moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Plama Pur. Grosuplje will meet at home Celje (#9) in the next round. At the losing side guard Jan Rizman (196-1994) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Andro Antonic (192-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Celje’s coach Vladimir Rizman gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Nova Gorica moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams.
