The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Stariy Lutsk on the court of Kyiv Basket on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by Kyiv Basket 89-86. Kyiv Basket outrebounded Stariy Lutsk 47-32 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Stariy Lutsk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Denys Klevzunyk (195-2000, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Yegor Sushkin (-2006) chipped in 30 points. At the losing side American point guard Marquis Jackson (183-1998, college: North Park) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Very significant was Rivne’s 75-67 road victory against Kyiv Basket. American guard Isaiah Fuller (188-2000, college: Nova SE) nailed 17 points for the winning side and Roderick Brown accounted for 6 points and 12 rebounds. Rivne’s coach Mikhail Pereverziy used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The game in Ivano-Frankivsk was also quite interesting. Rivne played at the court of Hoverla. Rivne did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 84-65 on Thursday. Oleksii Soloviov fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Sergiy Startsev produced 18 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
In the last game of round 1 bottom-ranked Stariy Lutsk won against Hoverla on the opponent’s court 67-63.
Hoverla – Rivne 65-84
The game in Ivano-Frankivsk was also quite interesting. Rivne played at the court of Hoverla. Rivne did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 84-65 on Thursday. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hoverla‘s 32. Rivne forced 26 Hoverla turnovers. The former international forward Oleksii Soloviov (192-1997) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Roderick Brown (201, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five Rivne players scored in double figures. Point guard Sergiy Startsev (190-1997, agency: BIG) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Roman Morozov (204-1998) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side.
