Round 3 means everything may happen in VTB United League as the season just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 3 in the VTB United League took place in Kazan. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of UNICS (1-2) to Zenit (3-0) 87-84 on Sunday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by UNICS helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Lebanese Omari Spellman (206-1997, college: Villanova) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. American Dwayne Bacon (201-1995, college: FSU) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Zenit’s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Dmitriy Kulagin (197-1992) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists. Zenit is looking forward to face Parma-Pari (#9) in Perm in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UNICS will play on the road against Enisey in Krasnoyarsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

N.Novgorod will play against Uralmash (#5) in Yekaterinburg in the next round. Avtodor will play at home against Lokomotiv to get more than just one victory in their record.

Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lokomotiv will meet Avtodor (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MBA Moscow will play against Samara (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 3 CSKA defeated Enisey in Moscow 82-71. Parma-Pari smashed Astana at home 95-63.

N.Novgorod – Avtodor 79-74

One of the most interesting games of round 3 was a derby match between two teams from Russia. The game took place in Nizhny Novgorod where N.Novgorod won against visiting Avtodor (1-2) 79-74. N.Novgorod players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Avtodor was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Zach Nutall (190-1999, college: SMU) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 5 rebounds. There was no surprise in Krasnoyarsk where Enisey (1-2) was defeated by CSKA (3-0) 82-71 on Sunday. CSKA made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. CSKA outrebounded Enisey 44-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Nigerian center Tonye Jekiri (212-1994, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Melo Trimble (190-1995, college: Maryland, agency: Pensack Sports) helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Sergey Dolinin (205-2000) with 12 points and center Sergey Balashov (206-1996, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 13 points.
