ADA Blois defeated Aix-Maurienne at home 97-82. Strangely Aix-Maurienne outrebounded Blois 45-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Blois looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Timothe Vergiat (188-1998) who scored 20 points and 6 assists. Naturalized Chadian power forward Jacques Alingue (201-1988) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Carlos Pepin (201-2000, college: ESU) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aix-Maurienne will play next round against Fos-sur-Mer trying to get back on the winning streak. ADA Blois will try to continue on its current victory against Roanne on the road.
Important game to mention about took place in Evreux. ALM Evreux (1-2) saved a 1-point victory at home edging Gries-Souffel (1-2) 80-79 in the game for the tenth place. It was a good game for American point guard EJ Day (180-1999, college: Lasell) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Alexis Tanghe contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Serbian swingman Djordje Milosevic (199-1993, agency: PEPI SPORT) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for Gries-Souffel. Gries-Souffel’s coach Nebojsa Bogavac rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. ALM Evreux will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gries-Souffel will play at home against Vichy (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Rouen. Local SPO Rouen (1-2) lost to Denain Voltaire (2-1) 92-76 on Friday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Lovell Cabbil who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Marcus Hammond with 12 points and 5 assists. SPO Rouen’s coach tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Denain Voltaire will meet at home Boulazac in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SPO Rouen will play against Antibes (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Other games of round 3 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Fos-sur-Mer defeated Chartres in a road game 75-69. Roanne beat Caen at home 79-65. Antibes lost to undefeated Pau-Lacq-Orthez on the opponent’s court 87-92. Winless Hyeres-Toulon unfortunately lost to Poitiers in a home game 77-85. Nantes lost to undefeated Boulazac on the road 75-81. Winless Chalons-Reims was defeated by Orleans on its own court 83-90. Saint-Chamond was beaten by Vichy in a road game 86-79.
The best stats of 3rd round was 19 points and 7 rebounds by Ugo Doumbia of Vichy.
Chartres – Fos-sur-Mer 69-75
There was no surprise when C’Chartres (0-3) was defeated at home by Provence Basket (2-1) 75-69 on Friday. Fos-sur-Mer outrebounded Chartres 41-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fos-sur-Mer looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized Polish Mathieu Wojciechowski (203-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Point guard Lucas Bourhis (177-2000) helped adding 11 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Duane Wilson (189-1994, college: Texas A&M) with 26 points and 4 assists and Nigerian-American power forward TK Edogi (203-1994, college: Iona) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Provence Basket will meet Aix-Maurienne (#5) in the next round. C’Chartres will play against Saint-Chamond (#17) in Saint Chamond and hopes to get finally their first victory.

No shocking result in a game when Chorale de Roanne (3-0) defeated at home Calvados (1-2) 79-65 on Friday. Roanne made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Caen outrebounded Roanne 43-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for power forward Bruno Cingala-Mata (205-1993, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American-Trinidad and Tobago point guard Terrell Gomez (173-1998, college: SDSU) helped adding 12 points. The best for the losing side was Jamaican Kentan Facey (206-1993, college: UConn) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Haitian-American forward Marc-Eddy Norelia (200-1993, college: FGCU) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chorale de Roanne will meet at home Blois in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
