The Regular Season in Regionalliga just started. The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

First defeat of league’s leader B.Loewen against Hagen BG 100-93 was the most important game of the last round. Hagen BG made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 B.Loewen turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian-Portuguese guard Mychael Paulo (193, college: McMaster, agency: 011 Sports) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Ukrainian guard Yuri Kondrakov (191-1996, agency: BIG) contributed with 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Lars Brodisch (195-2004) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds for B.Loewen. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. B.Loewen will play next round against Recklinghausen trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hagen BG will try to continue on its current victory against Loewen in Herten.
Bramsche smashed Bramfelder at home 88-65. American guard Tradavis Thompson (188, college: Lynn) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and Emilijus Peleda chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Younes Ibouchoukene (180-2003) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bramfelder will play next round against Stade trying to get back on the winning streak. Bramsche will try to continue on its current victory against Vechta 3 on the road.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Goetting.ASC on the court of Wolfenbuettel on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Wolfenbuettel 105-65. Sidney Brown Jr. nailed 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Miles de Koning came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Goetting.ASC in the defeat. Wolfenbuettel will meet Braunschweig on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Goetting.ASC will play against Bargteheide and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Winless Vechta 3 lost to undefeated Rendsburg on the road 88-105. Stade won against Freibeuter on its own court 78-64. Oldenburger TB managed to outperform Aschersleben in a road game 73-68. Winless Westerstede lost to undefeated Braunschweig at home 84-88. Winless Saarlouis lost to undefeated Soeflingen on the opponent’s court 55-70. Winless Muenster 2 lost to undefeated Grevenbroich in a home game 68-87. Koeln DTV won against Salzkotten on the road 74-60. Winless Recklinghausen lost to undefeated Hagen-Haspe on its own court 66-74. Winless Wulfen lost to undefeated HammStars in a road game 68-71. Herford crushed Ibbenbueren at home 71-49. Loewen beat Leverkusen 2 on the opponent’s court 80-77.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 32 points and 9 rebounds by Gilbert Gyamfi of Loewen.



Group North

Wolfenbuettel – Goetting.ASC 105-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Goetting.ASC on the court of Wolfenbuettel on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Wolfenbuettel 105-65. Wolfenbuettel dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Goetting.ASC‘s 32. Wolfenbuettel forced 23 Goetting.ASC turnovers and outrebounded them 49-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Wulfen’s coach Gary Johnson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. HammStars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Wulfen will play against Leverkusen 2 and hope to win that game.

Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Herford will meet Koeln DTV on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ballers will play against Muenster 2 and hope to win that game.
