There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in TBL. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Erokspor defeated Cayirova in Istanbul 88-81. Erokspor made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Yigit Sarikaya (202-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. American point guard Maurice Watson (178-1993, college: Creighton) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Diante Watkins (175-1990, college: RMU, agency: BIG) replied with 31 points and 5 assists for Cayirova. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cayirova will play next round against Haremspor trying to get back on the winning streak. Erokspor will try to continue on its current victory against Ormanspor in Ankara.

The game between Kapakli Spor and Ankaragucu in Tekirdag on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Ankara beat Kapakli Spor 95-79. CJ Elleby notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 26 points by Marcus Shaver Jr did not help to save the game for Kapakli Spor. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ankaragucu will meet Trabzonspor on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kapakli Spor will play against Konya BBSK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Gaziantep beat TED Ankara on the road 91-86. Winless Final Spor lost to undefeated Fenerbahce 2 on its own court 86-91. Winless Anka Spor lost to undefeated Ormanspor in Ankara 72-84. Konya BBSK managed to beat Cagdas BS at home 93-84. Haremspor defeated Trabzonspor on the opponent’s court 85-80. Balikesir BBS was beaten by Bordo in a home game 60-72.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by Eric Buckner of Bordo.



Erokspor – Cayirova 88-81

Erokspor defeated Cayirova in Istanbul 88-81. Erokspor made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Gaziantep’s coach Ali Yildirim used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by Senegalese center Abdoulaye Gueye (206-1994, college: Georgia Tech) did not help to save the game for TED Ankara. Guard Eray Akyuz (187-2000) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the hosts. Four Gaziantep and five TED Ankara players scored in double figures. Gaziantep will meet at home Anka Spor in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TED Ankara will play against Cedi Osman in Istanbul and hope to win that game.

They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward William McNair Jr (211-2000, college: Kansas St.) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Troy Franklin (183-1989, college: Coppin St.) supported him with 13 points and 9 assists. Ormanspor’s coach Fikret Karacam used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by point guard Kaan Onat (195-2007) did not help to save the game for Anka Spor. Center Salih Altuntas (208-2006) added 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the guests. Four Anka Spor players scored in double figures.
