There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in ProB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of Calvados on the court of Denain Voltaire on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Denain Voltaire 79-68. Denain-Voltaire looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Vincentian-Canadian Lien Phillip (203-1989, college: Windsor) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Neftali Difuidi-Walokwa (193-2001) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Wendell Davis (196-1995, college: Ashland) responded with 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denain Voltaire is looking forward to face Rouen on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Calvados will play against Roanne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very significant was Pau-Lacq-Orthez’s 78-64 road victory against Fos-sur-Mer. American forward Christopher Ledlum (198-2001, college: St.John’s) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Walter Whyte supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Pau-Lacq-Orthez’s coach Mickael Hay allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 20 points by American point guard Robert Turner III (190-1993, college: Texas Tech) did not help to save the game for Provence Basket. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will play against Antibes at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fos-sur-Mer will play against Chartres to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Antibes between Olympique Antibes and Gries-Souffel. Olympique Antibes got a very close home victory over Gries-Souffel. Olympique Antibes managed to escape with a 1-point win 73-72 in the game for the sixth place. The best player for the winners was Samir Gbetkom who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Olympique Antibes’ coach J.D. Jackson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Shannon Bogues produced 21 points and 5 assists for the guests. Olympique Antibes will meet Pau-Lacq-Orthez on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gries-Souffel will play against Evreux and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 2: winless Evreux lost to Poitiers on the opponent’s court 74-86. Winless Chalons-Reims lost to undefeated Roanne in a home game 81-91. Orleans was rolled over Saint-Chamond on the road 71-92. Rouen lost to undefeated Boulazac on its own court 67-71. Winless Hyeres-Toulon lost to undefeated Aix-Maurienne in Aix-les-Bains 82-97. Winless Chartres was destroyed by Nantes at home 66-88. Blois managed to outperform Vichy on the opponent’s court 71-58.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 12 points and 6 rebounds by Jacques Alingue of Blois.



Poitiers – Evreux 86-74

Poitiers used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Evreux 86-74 on Friday night. Poitiers outrebounded Evreux 43-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Poitiers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Jonathan Jeanne (218-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Canadian guard Jahvon Blair (193-1998, college: Georgetown) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. American point guard EJ Day (180-1999, college: Lasell) produced 19 points and 4 assists and swingman Dimitri Radnic (192-1999) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Poitiers will meet Hyeres-Toulon on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ALM Evreux will play against Gries-Souffel and hope to win that game.

Croatian Tomislav Gabric (204-1995, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 16 points and American guard Lee Moore (194-1995, college: UTEP, agency: 011 Sports) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Five Saint-Chamond and four Orleans players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
