Defending champion Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo (NBB) inked experienced 38-year old Brazilian-Spanish international 211cm center Rafael Hettsheimeir for upcoming season. It is actually his comeback to Vivo/Franca as he has played here before. He played most recently at Corinthians (NBB). In 25 games he averaged 13.6ppg and 4.2rpg last season. Good year as he was voted League Player of the Week.
He won Liga Sudamericana championship title in 2014 and 2018. Hettsheimeir was selected to Latinbasket.com All-Liga Americas Center of the Year back in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
The previous (2022-23) season he played at Flamengo where in 31 NBB games he had 11.6ppg and 4.3rpg in that year. He helped them to make it to the Brazilian Super 8 final after they ended regular season as second best team. Hettsheimeir also played 9 games in BCL Americas where he recorded 11.2ppg and 5.2rpg in that year.
He has been also a member of Brazilian international program for some years. Hettsheimeir has regularly played for Brazilian senior team since 2005 and previously for U21 National Team in 2004.
He represented Brazil at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) eight years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 4.2ppg, 2.0rpg.
Hettsheimeir is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Puerto Rico (Fajardo), Spain (Real Madrid, Unicaja, Sant Josep, Vic and Monbus Obradoiro), Argentina (Atenas) and Brazil (Ribeirao Preto and Paschoalotto/Bauru).
Hettsheimeir is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Sesi/Franca. He won Liga Sudamericana championship title in 2014 and 2018. Hettsheimeir was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Liga Americas Center of the Year back in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
