Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (BSL) signed 24-year old Latvian international guard Arturs Zagars (190cm-80kg-2000) for upcoming 2024-25 season. Zagars played last season at Wolves in Lithuanian LKL league. In 19 games he had 10.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.4apg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Zagars also played 1 game in Eurocup where he recorded 10 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists.
The previous (2022-23) season he played at Nevezis (LKL). In 22 games he was league’s fourth best scorer with impressive 15.4ppg and averaged 3.0rpg, 4.4apg and 1.1spg in that year. 2022-23 was a great season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Honorable Mention, All-Bosmans Team and League Player of the Week.
He has been also a member of Latvian international program for some years. Zagars has regularly played for Latvian senior team since 2020 and previously for U18 National Team back in 2018.
He represented Latvia at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Riga (Latvia) this year. His stats at that event were 3 games: 9.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.0apg, FGP: 53.3%, 3PT: 25.0%, FT: 75.0%.
Zagars is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany (Braunschweig), Spain (Joventut, Prat, Arenys and Joventut), Latvia (BS DSN Riga U20 team and DSN Riga) and NBA Summer League (Washington Wizards).
