Sigortam.net Istanbul (TBL) signed 31-year old American forward Darion Atkins (203cm-105kg-1992, college: Virginia) for upcoming 2024-25 season. Atkins played last season at Unahotels Reggio Emilia in Italian Serie A. In 35 games he had 6.6ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.3apg. He helped them to make it to the Italian Cup Semifinals.
His team won ACC Regular Season in 2014 and 2015.
The previous (2022-23) season he played at Dolomiti Trentino (also in Serie A) where in 34 games he recorded 12.2ppg, 6.5rpg and 2.2apg in that year. Atkins also played 18 games in Eurocup where he averaged 10.2ppg, 5.6rpg, 1.9apg and 1.2spg in that year.
He is quite experienced player. Atkins has played also professionally in France (SIG Strasbourg), Germany (Brose Bamberg and Chemnitz), Greece (AEK Betsson Athens), Israel (Hapoel Holon), Spain (Lenovo Tenerife), NBA (NY Knicks), NBA G League (Westchester Knicks) and Turkey (Fethiye).
He was voted to Israeli League All-Star Game back in 2017.
Atkins graduated from University of Virginia in 2015 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player. His team won ACC Regular Season in 2014 and 2015.
