Aliaga Petkimspor Izmir (BSL) strengthened their roster with addition of 27-year old Colombian international 211cm center Jaime Echenique (college: Wichita State) for season 2024-25. Echenique played most recently at Promitheas in Greek GBL league. In 25 games he recorded 12.8ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.1bpg last season. He helped them to make it to the Greek Cup Semifinals. Echenique also played 13 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 11.6ppg and 4.5rpg. He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals. Echenique has been regularly called to Colombian Senior National Team since 2020.
He is a very experienced player. Echenique has played also professionally in Lithuania (Rytas), Spain (Gipuzkoa), NBA (Washington Wizards), NBA G League (Capital City Go-Go and Motor City Cruise) and NBA Summer League (Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers).
Among many awards he played in the final of Lithuanian League in 2023. He was voted to Latinbasket.com All-FIBA AmeriCup Honorable Mention in 2022.
Echenique graduated from Wichita State in 2020 and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball. He played also for Trinity Valley Community College for 2 years.
