Andris Misters

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game of round 22 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. The game took place in Rakvere where seventh ranked Parnu outleveled host Tarvas (4-20) 95-61. They outrebounded Tarvas 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian guard Andris Misters (196-1992, college: Jacksonville) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Alterique Gilbert (183-1997, college: Wichita St.) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Bosnian power forward Igor Josipovic (205-1988) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Tarvas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Parnu maintains seventh position with 12-11 record. Tarvas lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Parnu are looking forward to face LU (#11) in Riga in the next round. Tarvas will have a break next round.

At the losing side Latvian Gustavs Kampuss (190-1999) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory ViA went down to fifteenth position due to points difference. LU at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. ViA will play against higher ranked BK Ogre (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. LU will play against Parnu (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
One of the most interesting games of round 22 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. Seventh ranked Parnu outleveled host Tallinna Kalev (3-20) 84-57. Siim-Markus Post notched 11 points and 7 assists to lead the effort. Even 18 points by Eduards Hazners did not help to save the game for Tallinna Kalev. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Parnu maintains seventh position with 12-11 record. Tallinna Kalev lost sixteenth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. Parnu will meet LU (#11) in the next round. Tallinna Kalev will play against Liepaja and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 22 were not that significant. ViA was smashed by Kalev/Cramo on the road 97-66. Tartu won against Liepaja on its own court 78-71. Kalev/Cramo – ViA 97-66

There was a small surprise when second ranked Estonian Kalev/Cramo (20-4) crushed bottom-ranked Latvian ViA (7-16) in Tallinn 97-66 on Wednesday. Kalev/Cramo looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by ViA’s players. Kregor Hermet (205-1997) notched 17 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Kristjan Kitsing (205-1990) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Kalev/Cramo’s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Kregor Hermet (205-1997) did not help to save the game for ViA. Forward Kristjan Kitsing (205-1990) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Kalev/Cramo have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Estonian champion maintains second position with 20-4 record having just two points less than leader VEF Riga.
