We bring you last week’s top performances from Poles who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
   #1. This week’s number one is an international small forward Mateusz Ponitka (198-93, currently plays in VTB United League). He led his Russian team Zenit to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Lokomotiv (2-2) crushing them 106-79 in the VTB United League in Sunday night’s game.
Ponitka recorded 12 points and added 7 passes in 27 minutes on the court.
in group A. Zenit Sankt Petersburg (2-1) is placed fifth.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
This year Ponitka averages: 5.3ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.7apg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 33.3% in three games he played so far.
He is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.
   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international guard David Logan (184-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Italy). Logan led Sassari to a victory over the league leader Treviso (4-0) 71-64 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday.
He was MVP of the game. Logan recorded 22 points and had 3 steals.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (4-0) is placed first in the Serie A.
So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
It’s Logan’s first year with the team.
He has relatively good stats this season: 14.0ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.0apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 36.8%, 3FGP: 43.3%.
Logan is a naturalized American.
He played for the Polish national team in 2009.
Logan used to play for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman Michal Sokolowski (196-92, currently plays in Italy) faced previously mentioned David Logan in the Italian Serie A last game.
Sokolowski. He could not help Treviso in their last game. Despite Sokolowski’s good performance his team lost 64-71 at home to the leading Sassari.
He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Sokolowski also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 29 minutes.
It’s Sokolowski’s first season with the team.
This year he has relatively solid stats: 10.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 41.7% and FT: 53.3% in four games.
Sokolowski is also a member of the Polish senior national team.
   #4. Shooting guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: WKU, currently plays in EuroCup) was not able to help Gran Canaria in their game against KK Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (1-0) in the Eurocup.
He recorded 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. It was his first game for Gran Canaria this season.
But Gran Canaria was edged 79-77 on their home court in Las Palmas by the higher-ranked KK Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (#4).
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Slaughter is a naturalized American.
He is also Polish national team player.
Strangely Slaughter has never played in Poland.

   #5. International guard Marcel Ponitka (194-97, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) was not able to secure a victory for one of league’s weakest teams Parma (1-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance Parma lost 69-83 on the road to the second-ranked Benfica.
Ponitka scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes.
There are only four games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Ponitka has reliable stats this year: 10.5ppg, 5.0rpg and 3.5apg in two games.
He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #6. Swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider s Oliver Baskets crushing them 95-73 in the German BBL on Saturday night.
Garbacz recorded 11 points.
SYNTAINICS MBC Weissenfels (3-1) is placed fifth in the BBL.
It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Garbacz’s stats this season are: 13.3ppg and 2.8rpg.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

   #7. International center Dominik Olejniczak (213-96, college: FSU, currently plays in France) couldn’t help one of league’s weakest teams one of league’s weakest teams Gravelines-Dunkerque (4-1) in their game against Metropolitans (3-1) in the French Betclic ELITE ProA. Despite his good performance last Friday Olejniczak recorded 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Olejniczak’s overall stats this season are: 5.4ppg and 6.2rpg.
He is also Polish national team player.

   #8. Center Adam Lapeta (217-87, currently plays in Lithuania) couldn’t help Dzukija (3-3) in their game against Juventus (4-1) in the Lithuanian LKL, despite his good performance on Saturday night.
Lapeta recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in 32 minutes.
But Dzukija was badly defeated 101-84 in Utena by the second-ranked Juventus.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Lapeta’s overall stats are: 6.0ppg, 7.7rpg, 1.3apg and 1.8bpg in six games.
He used to play for the Polish national team
back in 2016.
   #9. International forward Adam Waczynski (199-89, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) contributed to a 1-point Zaragoza‘s victory against the closely-ranked Galil Gilboa (0-2) 91-90 in the FIBA Europe Cup last Wednesday.
Waczynski scored 11 points in a mere 19 minutes.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Casademont Zaragoza (1-1) is placed third in the FIBA Europe Cup.
There are only four games left until the end of the FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
This year Waczynski averages only 7.0ppg in two games.
He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

   #10. Shooting guard Dardan Berisha (190-88, currently plays in Kosovo) was the main contributor in Peja‘s victory against the sixth-ranked Ylli (3-4) 82-78 in the Kosovan Superliga on Thursday night.
Berisha was the best player in that game. He recorded 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his five free throws).
KB Peja (6-1) is placed first in the Superliga.
It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row.
Berisha has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 22.6ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.6apg and 1.7spg.
Berisha is a former international player as six years ago he still played for the Polish senior national team.

   #11. International center Aleksander Balcerowski (218-0, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in ABA League) couldn’t help Mega BG in their game against Borac CA in the ABA League, despite his good performance in Sunday night’s game.
He recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes.
But his team lost 68-80.
Balcerowski’s stats this year are: 11.3ppg and 4.8rpg in four games.
He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #12. Former international forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (200-92, currently plays in France) couldn’t help one of league’s weakest teams Le Portel in their game against Chalons-Reims in the French Betclic ELITE ProA.
He recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes.
His team was crushed by 33 points 106-73.
This year Wojciechowski’s total stats are: 7.0ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.3apg in four games.
He used to play for the Polish national team
back in 2019.

   #13. U20 international forward Filip Siewruk (202-2, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Villarrobledo in their game against Sant Antoni in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Siewruk cannot count Saturday’s game as one of the best ones.
He scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 16 minutes.
His team was edged 70-69.
Siewruk has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 3.5rpg in two games.
He is also Polish U20 national team player.

The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Yovel Zoosman (198-SF-98, currently plays in Euroleague) led his German team ALBA Berlin to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Crvena Zvezda (2-3) 78-63 in the Euroleague in Friday night’s game.
Zoosman scored 11 points in 23 minutes.
ALBA Berlin (2-3) is placed tenth in the Euroleague.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
This year Zoosman’s overall stats are: 7.6ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg in five games he played so far.
He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Juan Pablo Vaulet (198-SF-96, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Greece) could not help AEK (1-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Vaulet’s good performance AEK was badly defeated 84-68 on the road by the higher-ranked AS Apollon Patras (#5).
He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Vaulet also added 6 rebounds.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Vaulet averaged so far 11.3ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.3spg.
He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Argentinian.

   #3. Ido Flaisher (208-C-98, college: Hawaii, currently plays in Israel) led E.Netanya to a victory against the closely-ranked H.Ramat Gan (1-1) 94-86 in the Israeli National League (second division) last Monday.
Flaisher scored 16 points and added 5 passes. It was his first game for E.Netanya this season.
His team is placed fifth in the National League.
The Regular Season already ended.
Flaisher has both Polish and Israeli nationalities.
Despite his Polish passport, Flaisher previously played for the Israeli U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #4. Experienced Oskars Hlebovickis (196-SF-0, currently plays in European North Basketball League) was not able to help one of league’s weakest teams one of league’s weakest teams Liepaja in their game against Tartu (1-1) in the European North Basketball League.
Hlebovickis recorded 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Liepaja was defeated 61-53 at home by the second-ranked Tartu.
The Regular Season already ended in the European North Basketball League.
Hlebovickis has averaged so far 2.5ppg and 2.5rpg.
He also holds two passports: Latvian and Polish.

   #5. Mariusz Markiewicz (202-PF-86, currently plays in Ireland) contributed to an UCD Marian‘s victory against the sixth-ranked DCU Saints (0-2) 78-68 in a derby game in the Irish Super League last Saturday.
Markiewicz scored 7 points in 18 minutes. It was his first game for UCD Marian this season.
in group North. His team is placed second.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Markiewicz has been at the team for five years.

   #6. Pawel Robak (185-SG-96, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Andujar (3-0) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the first-placed Andujar was defeated 92-80 in Malaga by the lower-ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (#6) in the Group D-A.
Robak scored 10 points.
He has averaged so far 8.7ppg and 2.0rpg.

   #7. Maciek Klimaszewski (205-C-95, currently plays in Iceland) couldn’t help Hamar in their game against Hottur in the Icelandic D1 (second division). Despite his good performance last Friday Klimaszewski was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 5 rebounds.
Klimaszewski has averaged so far 5.6ppg and 3.6rpg.
He holds both Polish and Icelandic passports.
Despite Klimaszewski’s Polish nationality, he previously played for the Icelandic U18 national team and probably cannot be called to the Polish team.
