Top ranked Suduva-Mantinga (29-6) recorded its sixth loss in Gargzdai on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Gargzdu (29-8) 72-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-1986) fired 19 points and 5 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. Center Povilas Gaidys (206-1991, college: Southeastern) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Sarunas Beniusis (206-1993, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Suduva-Mantinga’s coach Marius Kiltinavicius rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Gargzdu maintains third place with 29-8 record having just seven point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. Gargzdu are looking forward to face Zalgiris II (#7) in Kaunas in the next round. Suduva-Mantinga will play at home against Vilkaviskis (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between seventh ranked Vilkaviskis and 4th placed LSU-Atletas where host Vilkaviskis (16-21) won against LSU-Atletas (19-17) 65-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of LSU-Atletas. Worth to mention a great performance of Ginas Mulevicius (200-2000) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds. Augustinas Venckus contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. Dominykas Bucas (203-1999) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for LSU-Atletas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vilkaviskis moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris II. Newly promoted LSU-Atletas keeps the fourth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Silute. Vilkaviskis will play against league’s leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. LSU-Atletas will play at home against the league’s second-placed Telsiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It’s especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that Delikatesas was well-prepared to that game. Ugnius Mineikis stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. At the losing side Mintautas Mockus responded with 18 points. Delikatesas maintains fourteenth place with 8-28 record. Kretinga lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 27 games lost. Delikatesas will meet at home higher ranked Vytis (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kretinga will play against Mazeikiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Kretinga – Delikatesas 67-84

Bottom-ranked Delikatesas managed to get a eighth victory on Thursday night. This time they won against twelfth-ranked Kretinga 84-67. It’s especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that Delikatesas was well-prepared to that game. Delikatesas outrebounded Kretinga 40-23 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ugnius Mineikis (190-2000) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and guard Arunas Rimkus (193-2004) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side guard Mintautas Mockus (201-2003) responded with 18 points and center Rytis Zabita (200-1994) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Delikatesas and four Kretinga players scored in double figures. Delikatesas maintains fourteenth place with 8-28 record. Kretinga lost sixth consecutive game. There was a minor upset in Sakiai where 9th ranked Vytis (21-16) was crushed by eleventh ranked Neptunas-Akv. (12-24) 99-75 on Thursday. Neptunas-Akv. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vytis’ 28. Center Oskaras Pleikys (202-2001, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and guard Adomas Sidarevicius (188-2001) chipped in 17 points. Five Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. At the losing side Augustinas Mikstas (203-2001) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Marijus Uzupis (197-1993) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Neptunas-Akv. maintains eleventh place with 12-24 record. Loser Vytis keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Neptunas-Akv. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vytis will play against Delikatesas (#14) in Joniskis and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game in Telsiu where second ranked Telsiai (29-7) defeated 5th ranked Silute (19-17) 103-87 on Thursday. Telsiai looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Ignas Razutis (185-1987) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Deividas Rasys (192-1997) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Telsiai’s coach Rytis Vaisvila used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard JJ Culver (193-1997, college: WBU) responded with 22 points and Tomas Balciunas (204-2000) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Telsiai have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 29-7 record having just six point less than leader Suduva-Mantinga. Loser Silute dropped to the fourth position with 17 games lost. They share it with LSU-Atletas. Telsiai will meet LSU-Atletas (#4) in the next round. Silute will have a break next round.
