Elite League newcomer AO Mykonou strengthened their roster with addition of 30-year old 202cm power forward Panagiotis Filippakos for upcoming season. Filippakos played most recently at Maroussi (GBL). GBL was a little too high level for him, where in 9 games he recorded just 1.0ppg last season. Elite League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
The previous (2023) summer he played at Toros Del Valle in Colombian Liga Wplay. In 17 games he averaged 14.5ppg and 5.9rpg in 2023 year.
He represented Greece at the Military World Games in Wuhan (China) five years ago.
Filippakos has played previously for eight other Greece teams: Peristeri, Panionios, AEK Athens, Apollon Patras, Papagou, AE Kallitheas, Koroivos and Doukas.
Among many awards his team made it to the Greek Cup Final Four in 2022. He was voted to Greek League All-Star Game back in 2020.

A 203cm with 2.19cm wingspan! Undersized Center. High jumper and athletic , moves great on the post and by using a variety of fakes, scores with high percentages. Defensively uses very well his big wingspan and makes many deflections and blocks. Filippakos is working to improve his ball handling and spot shooting so to be able to threat more from the perimeter.
