Southern Methodist University signed 21-year-old Turkish forward Tibet Gorener (6’9”-200lbs) for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The Sisli native played for the last three years at San Jose State University. In 32 games last season, he had 11.4ppg and 3.9rpg. He helped his team make it to the MWC Tournament Semifinals and CBI Championship Quarterfinals in 2023.
He played also at University of Arizona between 2020-21.
During Gorener’s high school career, he spent time at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, CA, where he graduated in 2020. He was voted to the California All-CIF Southern Section Team and the Orange County All-Trinity League First Team that year.
He represented Turkey at the CBI Championship Quarterfinals last year.
Among many awards, he was also named to Eurobasket.com All-European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U16 Second Team in 2018.
