The game between third ranked Kotwica (19-6) and fourth ranked AZS PO (17-8) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Kotwica was defeated by AZS PO in Opole 80-63. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kotwica. AZS PO dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Kotwica’s 16. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AZS PO made 7 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by Kotwica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Pawel Krefft (192-1996, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Szymon Kiwilsza (201-1997, agency: BIG) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. AZS PO’s coach Marcin Grygowicz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bottom-ranked Turow managed to get a fourth victory. This time newly promoted Turow won against thirteenth-ranked Pelplin in Pelpin 71-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pelplin. It was an exceptional evening for Bartosz Bochno (193-1988, agency: BIG) who led the winners and scored 19 points. Adrian Kordalski accounted for 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Mariusz Konopatzki (192-1996, agency: Alti Sport) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for Pelplin in the defeat. Pelplin’s coach Marcin Radomski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Newly promoted Turow maintains seventeenth place with 4-20 record. Pelplin at the other side dropped to the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Turow will play against higher ranked Krosno (#12) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pelplin will play against WKK Wroclaw and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game took place in Starogard Gdanski where higher ranked Tychy (15-11) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Kociewskie Diably (11-12) 75-68 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Filip Stryjewski who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Kacper Makowski who recorded 17 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kociewskie Diably moved-up to tenth place. Tychy lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Kociewskie Diably will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tychy will play against Znicz (#16) and hope to secure a win.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 27: WKK Wroclaw won against Slask 2 on the opponent’s court 90-77. Pruszkow unfortunately lost to Lancut in a home game 67-84. Dziki Wwa recorded a loss to Walbrzych on the road 69-84. Krosno was defeated by Koszalin on its own court 64-82.
Slask 2 – WKK Wroclaw 77-90
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked WKK Wroclaw and 7th ranked Slask had identical 12-12 record. But Slask was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Wroclaw 90-77 on Wednesday night. The best player for the winners was Michal Chrabota (196-1999) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Jakub Patoka (200-1994) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four WKK Wroclaw players scored in double figures.
