Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Peristeri (#3) and AEK (#6). AEK was defeated at home 97-101 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Peristeri made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Liberian point guard Joe Ragland (182-1989, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists. American forward Nate Renfro (203-1996, college: USF) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Jordan McRae (197-1991, college: Tennessee) replied with 27 points (made all of his seven free throws) for AEK. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Peristeri have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-7 record having six points less than leader Panathinaikos. AEK at the other side keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Kolossos HH.
An interesting game for Panathinaikos (21-1) which hosted in Athens 4th ranked Promitheas (13-9). First ranked Panathinaikos had an easy win 93-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Promitheas. Spanish Juancho Hernangomez (206-1995) scored 13 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kendrick Nunn chipped in 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Hunter Hale (192-1997, college: Winthrop) responded with 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-1 record. Promitheas at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between PAOK (8-14) and Karditsas (7-15), which took place in Karditsa. 8th ranked PAOK was outleveled in a road game by eleventh ranked Karditsas 97-78 on Sunday. Samuel Mennenga notched 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by Michal Michalak did not help to save the game for PAOK. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Karditsas moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Maroussi. PAOK lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Lavrio.
Other games in round 22 were not that significant. Olympiacos smashed Apollon on the road 93-63. Aris destroyed Lavrio on its own court 84-60. Maroussi unfortunately lost to Kolossos HH in Rodou 85-89.
