BBL is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 17 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Chemnitz (14-3) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Bayern Muenchen (12-3) 86-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chemnitz. Bayern shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Serbian Vladimir Lucic (204-1989) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Carsen Edwards (185-1998, college: Purdue) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Bayern Muenchen’s coach Pablo Laso used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jeff Garrett (201-1994, college: LSUS, agency: Players Group) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Chemnitz. Bayern Muenchen have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Chemnitz. Chemnitz at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Bayern are looking forward to face Crailsheim (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chemnitz will play against Heidelberg (#18) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Ludwigsburg. Seventh ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (11-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Rasta Vechta (11-6) 77-74 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rasta Vechta. American guard Silas Melson (193-1996, college: Gonzaga) stepped up and scored 13 points and 5 assists for the winners and Desure Buie chipped in 12 points and 5 assists. American guard Tommy Kuhse (188-1998, college: SMC) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ludwigsburg moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vechta. Ludwigsburg will play against Oldenburg (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vechta will play against Hamburg (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Oldenburg will meet at home higher ranked Ludwigsburg (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hamburg will play against Vechta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 17: Ulm beat Bamberg on the road 84-76. Rostock lost to Wuerzburg on its own court 78-91. Braunschweig managed to outperform Crailsheim in a road game 80-70. Heidelberg was rolled over Weissenfels at home 90-111. Goettingen crushed Tuebingen on the opponent’s court 116-95. Bonn was beaten by ALBA in a home game 87-95.



Bamberg – Ulm 76-84

No shocking result in a game when second ranked ratiopharm Ulm (13-4) beat on the road 12th ranked Brose Bamberg (6-11) 84-76 on Friday. Ulm looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Trevion Williams (206-2000, college: Purdue) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Dominican forward LJ Figueroa (198-1998, college: Oregon) accounted for 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. American forward Adrian Nelson (203-1999, college: YSU, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Zach Copeland (193-1997, college: Illinois St.) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Bamberg in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ulm maintains second place with 13-4 record behind leader Chemnitz. Loser Brose Bamberg dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Weissenfels. Ulm will meet at home Tuebingen (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bamberg will play against Braunschweig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
