Serbian Center Nikola Milutinov (213-C-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Olympiacos S.F.P. Piraeus, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 29-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed Kolossos HH (#9, 5-9) with 19-point margin 71-52. Olympiacos maintains the 2nd position in Greek GBL. The second best player in last round’s games was young American Shaq Buchanan (190-G-1997) of AS Karditsas. Buchanan had a very good evening with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course Karditsas cruised to a 80-71 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Aris (#5, 7-7). This victory allowed Karditsas to move up to 10th position in the standings. 10 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Karditsas managed to get this year. Buchanan is a newcomer at Karditsas and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.
Third on the list of top players last round was American center Chad Brown (206-C-1996) of AS Apollon Patras (#12). Brown scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Apollon Patras, leading his team to a 83-75 win against the higher-ranked AEK (#6, 6-8). Apollon can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 3-11 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Brown has individually a great season in Greece. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in rebounds with 7.8rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.3bpg and a FGP of 58.4%. The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
