33-year old forward Gokhan Yazicioglu (200-F-1990) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Mersin BBGSK and receives a Hoops Agents TBL Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, while his team crushed Ankaragucu (#18, 4-14) with 25-point margin 92-67. Mersin is placed at 4th position in Turkish TBL. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Mersin will need more victories to improve their 11-7 record. In the team’s last game Yazicioglu had a remarkable 84.6% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Gokhan Yazicioglu averages this season 9.2ppg and 6.7rpg.
Second best performed player last round was Benoit Mbala (200-F-1995) of Alagoz Holding Igdir Basketbol. He is Cameroonian forward in his first season at Igdir. In the last game Mbala recorded an impressive 32 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Igdir lost that game 91-101 to slightly lower-ranked Cayirova (#6, 9-9). Igdir managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 10-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Mbala is a newcomer at Igdir and quickly became one of team’s most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to guard Phil Greene IV (187-G-1992, agency: Slash Sports) of Cayirova Belediye (#6). Greene IV got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . He was a key player of Cayirova, leading his team to a 101-91 win against slightly higher-ranked Igdir (#5, 10-8). Greene IV has a very solid season. In 10 games in Turkey he scored 18.2ppg. He also has 3.6apg and a FGP of 59.3%.
