Senegalese Center Massamba Diop (210-C-2005) had a very impressive game in the last round for CBA Gran Canaria 2nd team, receiving a Hoops Agents LEB Silver Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 18-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Palma BM (#14, 4-11) 89-83. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings in East. Gran Canaria 2 is placed at 9th position in Spanish LEB Silver. Gran Canaria 2 is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-9 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Diop as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Massamba Diop averages this season 9.8ppg and 7.1rpg.
The second best player in last round’s games was young Alex Llorca (192-G-1989) of league’s second-best Class Sant Antoni Ibiza. Llorca had a very good evening with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Sant Antoni lost that game 84-92 to the lower-ranked Santfeliuenc (#6, 7-8). Sant Antoni managed to keep the same second spot in East. It was just his team’s 3rd loss this season, while they won 12 other games. Llorca is a newcomer at Sant Antoni, but is already one of team’s top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was swingman Ismael Corraliza (192-G/F-2000) of Fundacion Globalcaja La Roda (#12). Corraliza scored 20 points. He was a key player of La Roda, leading his team to a 80-75 win against slightly higher-ranked Iraurgi SB (#10, 7-8). The chances of La Roda not to end season at such low position in West, however are less than slim as they have already lost 10 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Corraliza could try to bring La Roda’s a little bit higher in the standings. Corraliza has a very solid season. In 15 games in Spain he scored 12.6ppg.
