Gipuzkoa maintains the 4th position in Spanish LEB Gold. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Gipuzkoa will need more victories to improve their 12-4 record. In the team’s last game Barcello had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Gipuzkoa‘s top player in his first season with the team. Former Brigham Young University star has very solid stats this year. The second best player in last round’s games was young American Andre Norris (203-G/F-1994) of Rioverde Clavijo. Norris had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Clavijo to edge the higher-ranked Cantabria (#12, 6-10) 75-71. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Clavijo is still at the dead bottom 18th position. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Clavijo managed to get this year. Norris is well-known at Clavijo and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.
Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Eddy Polanco (193-PG-1994, agency: Octagon Europe) of Tobarra CB (#15). Polanco scored 20 points. He was a key player of Tobarra, leading his team to a 97-78 easy win against the higher-ranked Alicante (#8, 9-7). The chances of Tobarra not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Polanco could try to bring Real Betis’s a little bit higher in the standings. Polanco has a very solid season. In 13 games in Spain he scored 13.0ppg.
