TBL top team – Yalovaspor (16-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Erokspor (7-11) in Istanbul 104-89. Yalovaspor shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for naturalized Azerbaijani Orhan Haciyeva (200-1989) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American point guard Ricky Tarrant (188-1993, college: Memphis, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 22 points and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Puerto Rican-American guard Kyle Vinales (188-1992, college: CCSU, agency: 011 Sports) replied with 24 points for Erokspor. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yalovaspor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Newly promoted Erokspor dropped to the thirteenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Yalovaspor are looking forward to face Kocaeli (#16) in Izmit in the next round which should be an easy win for them. The game in Kocaeli was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked Igdir (10-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Cayirova (9-9). Cayirova defeated Igdir 101-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Igdir. American guard Phil Greene IV (187-1992, college: St.John’s, agency: Slash Sports) scored 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Diante Watkins chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cameroonian forward Benoit Mbala (200-1995) with 32 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cayirova have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Konyaspor. Igdir at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Cayirova will play against Kapakli Spor (#10) in Tekirdag in the next round. Igdir will play at home against Ankaragucu (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Mersin smashed Ankaragucu on the road 92-67. Konyaspor lost to Bornova on its own court 74-81. Ormanspor unfortunately lost to Balikesir in a road game 75-84. TED Ankara managed to beat Kocaeli at home 90-76. Final Spor was defeated by Sigortam.net on the opponent’s court 82-72. Gaziantep beat Fenerbahce 2 in a home game 104-92.
The most impressive performance of 18th round was 16 points and 21 assists by Maurice Watson of Gaziantep.
Kapakli Spor – Haremspor 74-77
A very close game took place in Tekirdag between Haremspor and Kapakli Spor. Twelfth ranked Haremspor (8-10) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Kapakli Spor (8-10). Haremspor managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 in the game for the eighth place. Haremspor had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haremspor made 7 blocks.
