The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Burgos: Burgos T. (#6) and Burgos SP (#2). Burgos T. (11-5) won against visiting Burgos SP (12-4) 110-96. Burgos SP lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Gipuzkoa and Coruna. Burgos T. is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Clavijo (#18) in Logrono in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Burgos SP will play at home against Real Betis (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Clavijo managed to get a third victory, breaking the eleven-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Clavijo won against twelfth-ranked Cantabria in Torrelavega 75-71. The winners were led by American swingman Andre Norris (203-1994, college: Dubuque) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Juan Coffi supported him with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Even 27 points and 4 assists by American guard Spencer Littleson (193-1998, college: Toledo) did not help to save the game for Cantabria. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Clavijo maintains eighteenth position with 3-13 record. Cantabria at the other side keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Fuenlabrada. Clavijo will play against higher ranked Burgos T. (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cantabria will play against Oviedo (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LEB Gold top team – Estudiantes (13-3) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Ourense (7-9) in Madrid 97-56. Kevin Larsen fired 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Ivica Radic produced 8 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estudiantes maintains first position with 13-3 record. Loser Ourense dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Melilla and Oviedo. Estudiantes will meet Gipuzkoa (#4) in the next round. Ourense will play against Valladolid (#6) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16: Lleida won against Menorca on the opponent’s court 70-67. Caceres managed to outperform Oviedo in a home game 86-78. Coruna managed to beat Castello on the road 83-74. Real Betis crushed Alicante on its own court 97-78. Fuenlabrada was beaten by Valladolid in a road game 87-72. Melilla lost to Gipuzkoa at home 82-93.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 30 points and 7 assists by Alex Barcello of Gipuzkoa.



Menorca – Lleida 67-70

Very expected game in Mahon where 15th ranked Menorca (4-12) was edged by seventh ranked Lleida (10-6) 70-67 on Saturday. American center Cameron Krutwig (206-1998, college: Loyola, IL) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Jaume Lobo (180-1997) chipped in 18 points (made all of his seven free throws). Senegalese-American guard Clevin Hannah (179-1987, college: Wichita St.) produced 20 points and 8 assists and Serbian power forward Oliver Stevic (204-1984) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Lleida have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 10-6 record. Newly promoted Menorca dropped to the sixteenth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Castello.
