We bring you last week’s top performances from Danes who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
   #1. This week’s number one is former international forward Daniel Mortensen (204-1994, college: Barry, currently plays in Iceland). He led Thor Thorl to a victory over the tenth-ranked Breidablik (7-10) crushing them 136-116 in the Icelandic Subway League in Friday night’s game.
Mortensen was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 47 points and getting 13 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) in 30 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it’s only Mortensen’s first season in pro basketball. Thor Thorlakshofn (13-4) is placed first in the Subway League.
It was his team’s fifth consecutive victory in a row.
Mortensen has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 21.1ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 67.5%(81-120), 3FGP: 40.9% and FT: 94.6%(35-37) in 17 games he played so far.
Mortensen played for the Danish senior national team year ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Asbjoern Midtgaard (213-1997, college: GCU, currently plays in BNXT-League). He contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Leeuwarden (9-11) crushing them 94-70 in the BNXT League last Saturday.
Midtgaard recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks; not bad, considering it’s only Midtgaard’s first season in pro basketball. Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden (17-3) is placed second in the BNXT League.
It was his team’s third consecutive victory in a row.
The Regular Season already ended in the BNXT League.
This season Midtgaard has very high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 8.7rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 64.1%(107-167), 3FGP: 29.6% and FT: 81.0%.
Midtgaard played for the Danish national team in 21.

   #3. The Danish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Kevin Larsen (208-1993, college: GWU, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to an easy victory against the 11th-ranked Alicante (10-11) crushing them 98-75 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night.
Larsen scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 23 minutes.
Movistar Estudiantes Madrid (16-4) is placed second in the LEB Gold.
Larsen has relatively good stats this year: 11.9ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 62.3%(33-53), 3FGP: 8.3% and FT: 93.3% in seven games.
He played for the Danish national team year ago.

   #4. Forward Gustav Suhr-Jessen (201, currently plays in NCAA2) contributed to a Saint Anselm College‘s surprising victory against the Southern Connecticut State University (2-11) 74-60 in the NCAA2 in Monday night’s game.
Suhr-Jessen scored 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Saint Anselm College has 9-6 record this season.
This year Suhr-Jessen has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.3apg.
He used to play for the Danish national team
back in 21.
   #5. Former U16 international guard Liam Sorensen (193-2000, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Idaho St. (4-13) in their last game. Despite Sorensen’s very good performance the Idaho St. lost 75-80 on the road to the Sacramento State University.
He scored 24 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 40 minutes.
There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Sorensen’s overall stats are: 7.2ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.5apg in 24 games.
He used to play for the Danish U16 national team
years ago.

   #6. Forward Frederik Rungby (199-1993, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Sixers (10-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Rungby’s very good performance the seventh-placed Sixers (10-9) was defeated 89-78 on the opponent’s court by the higher-ranked Duesseldorf (#3) in the North group.
He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Rungby also added 9 rebounds.
There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Rungby’s total stats this season are: 8.6ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2spg.
He is a former international player as he played for the Danish senior team year ago.

   #7. An experienced former international guard Adama Darboe (190-1986, agency: Slash Sports, currently plays in Iceland) was not able to secure a victory for KR (9-6) in their last game. Despite Darboe’s good performance KR lost 79-90 on the opponent’s court to the lower-ranked (#5) Stjarnan.
He scored 14 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 35 minutes.
Darboe has very impressive stats this year: 17.2ppg, 5.0rpg and 6.2apg in 13 games.

   #8. Guard Rasmus Bach (193-1995, college: Fort Lewis, currently plays in Australia) couldn’t help New Zealand Breakers (4-10) in their game against United (11-4) in the Australian NBL.
Bach scored 7 points.
New Zealand Breakers were crushed 108-73 in Melbourne by the leading United.
Bach’s total stats this season are: 1.5ppg and 1.9rpg.
He used to play for the Danish national team
back in 20.
   #9. Former international point guard August Haas (188-1997, college: St.Edward’s, currently plays in Iceland) couldn’t help Thor AK (8-8) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance Thor AK was badly defeated 97-77 on the opponent’s court by the higher-ranked Keflavik (#3).
Haas recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and making 12 passes.
Haas’ total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 5.7apg.
He used to play for the Danish national team
years ago.

   #10. Swingman Mads Bonde (197-1997, currently plays in Spain) helped Girona win their game against the 14th-ranked Almansa (9-12) 93-87 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Saturday.
Bonde scored 12 points in 22 minutes.
Basquet Girona (15-3) is placed third in the LEB Gold.
It was his team’s seventh consecutive victory in a row.
This year Bonde’s total stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.1rpg in 21 games.
He is a former international player as years ago he still played for the Danish senior national team.

   #11. Former U18 international power forward Bakary Dibba (206-2001, agency: Blacktop Management, currently plays in Germany) couldn’t help Tigers in their game against Artland Dragons in the German ProA (second division).
Dibba scored 7 points.
His team was defeated 103-97.
Dibba has averaged so far 2.7ppg and 1.7rpg.
He used to play for the Danish U18 national team
years ago.

   #12. Former international forward Gustav Knudsen (204-2003, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Olivar (11-5) in their last game. Despite Knudsen’s very good performance Olivar (#4) lost 69-73 on the opponent’s court to the lower-ranked (#5) Valls in the Group C-1.
He was the top scorer with 16 points. Knudsen also added 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 29 minutes.
Knudsen has reliable stats this year: 13.4ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.6apg and 2.2spg in 13 games.

back in 21.

   #13. Former international forward Sylvester Berg (201-1998, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Real Valladolid Baloncesto to win against the league outsider Huesca 82-69 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Saturday.
Berg scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Berg has averaged so far 5.3ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.2apg.
He used to play for the Danish national team
years ago.

   #14. Former international swingman David Knudsen (196-1994, agency: Players Group, college: Marist, currently plays in Spain) couldn’t help Albacete (14-5) in their last game. Despite Knudsen’s good performance Albacete (#2) lost 65-77 on the opponent’s court to the much lower-ranked (#12) Alginet in the East group.
He recorded 11 points and added 3 assists in 23 minutes.
Knudsen’s stats this year are: 12.2ppg, 3.1rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1spg in 19 games.
He used to play for the Danish national team
back in 21.

   #15. Former international point guard Noah Sorensen (194-2003, currently plays in Spain) helped Murcia 2 win their game against the fifth-ranked Lliria crushing them 101-79 in the Spanish EBA (fourth division) last Saturday.
He scored only 4 points and had 3 steals in 25 minutes.
Sorensen averaged so far 11.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.6apg and 1.1spg in 16 games.

years ago.

The list of other players, who all have Danish passport but never been selected to any of Danish national teams:

   #1. Olamide Pedersen (206-F/C, currently plays in NCAA2) led Western New Mexico University to a victory against the Cameron University (2-9) 69-56 in the NCAA2 on Saturday night.
Pedersen had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 21 minutes.
The Western New Mexico University has not so impressive 4-8 record this season.
This year Pedersen’s total stats are: 5.1ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.5bpg in 22 games he played so far.

   #2. Simon Jensen (194-PF, currently plays in Norway) managed to help Gimle BBK Bergen to win against the closely-ranked Fyllingen BBK (14-10) crushing them 106-80 in the Norwegian BLNO in Wednesday night’s game.
Jensen recorded only 4 points.
Gimle BBK Bergen (18-8) is placed second in the BLNO.
His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical.
Jensen has averaged so far 3.9ppg and 3.6rpg.
