The most exciting game of round 13 in the BSL took place in Vienna. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed BC Vienna (7-4) to fifth ranked Gmunden Swans (8-4) 80-77 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Vienna. Vienna was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 27-22 charge of Gmunden, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by BC Vienna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Toni Blazan (197-1992, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 rebounds. American center Trey Moses (208-1997, college: Ball St., agency: One Motive Sports) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Bogic Vujosevic (192-1992) answered with 20 points and 7 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for BC Vienna. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Vienna at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Gmunden are looking forward to face Wels (#4) on the road in the next round. Vienna will play against the league’s second-placed Traiskirchen and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Graz. Eighth ranked UBSC Graz (7-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 4th placed Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (8-5) 72-69 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Raiffeisen Flyers Wels. American point guard Zach Cooks (175-1999, college: Hofstra) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Jalen Shaw chipped in 9 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side German Radii Caisin (198-2001) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds. UBSC Graz moved-up to seventh place. Wels at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with St.Poelten. UBSC Graz will play against Oberwart (#9) on the road in the next round. Wels will play against Gmunden (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
BSL top team – Dukes (11-2) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (0-13) in Klosterneuburg 89-64. American players dominated the game. Michael Weathers nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Dylan Causwell came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds for Furstenfeld Panthers in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Klosterneuburg have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record. Loser Furstenfeld Panthers still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Klosterneuburg will meet Timberwolves (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Furstenfeld will play against Kapfenberg and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games in round 13 were not that significant. Traiskirchen smashed Eisenstadt on the road 93-64. Timberwolves were destroyed by St.Poelten on its own court 49-77. Oberwart outscored Kapfenberg in a road game 90-60.
The most impressive performance of 13th round was 18 points and 8 rebounds by Derreck Brooks Jr of Oberwart.



Eisenstadt – Traiskirchen 64-93

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Arkadia Lions (10-3) crushed 11th ranked Nord Dragonz (1-11) in Eisenstadt 93-64 on Thursday. The game without a history. Traiskirchen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Arkadia Lions outrebounded Nord Dragonz 45-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Arkadia Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Davon Clare (198-1998, college: CS Fullerton) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Demarcus Demonia (201-1999, college: A&M-Commerce) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds. Demonia is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. Arkadia Lions’ coach Radomir Mijanovic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian guard Austen Awosika (190-1998, college: CS Fullerton) came up with 27 points and 5 assists and Croatian forward Tino Sebalj (206-1999, college: St.Xavier) added 19 points respectively for Nord Dragonz in the defeat. Traiskirchen have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-3 record behind leader Klosterneuburg. Loser Nord Dragonz keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Traiskirchen will meet at home Vienna (#6) in the next round. Eisenstadt will play against St.Poelten (#5) and hope to win that game.

Timberwolves – St.Poelten 49-77

Very expected game when 10th ranked Timberwolves (2-10) were smashed by sixth ranked UBC St. Poelten (8-5) in Vienna 77-49 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by St.Poelten. Timberwolves managed to win fourth quarter 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. St.Poelten dominated on the defensive end, holding Timberwolves to just 4 points in third quarter. UBC St. Poelten dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves‘ 26. UBC St. Poelten forced 21 Timberwolves turnovers. Slovenian swingman Matej Kavas (201-1996, college: Nebraska) nailed 16 points for the winning side and American guard MJ Randolph (193-1999, college: FAMU) accounted for 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Randolph is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-60. Gunners Oberwart dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kapfenberg Bulls‘ 22. Gunners Oberwart forced 19 Kapfenberg Bulls turnovers and outrebounded them 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass.
