The most important game in the last round took place in Barnau between second ranked BARS-RGEU (4-2) and fifth ranked Barnaul (4-2) on Saturday night. BARS-RGEU was defeated by Barnaul on the road 71-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BARS-RGEU. Barnaul made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 BARS-RGEU turnovers. It was a good game for point guard Vladislav Ilinov (182-1999) who led his team to a victory with 29 points. The former international swingman Igor Smygin (197-1987) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Barnaul’s coach Alexander Gerasimov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belarusian power forward Denis Vikentsyev (207-1998) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds for BARS-RGEU. Barnaul moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated BARS-RGEU. Barnaul is looking forward to face Lok.Kuban (#14) in Krasnodar in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BARS-RGEU will play on the road against Novosybirsk (#10) in Novosibirsk and is hoping to win this game.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dinamo V.. Point guard Victor Zaryazhko (194-1992) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Kirill Popov chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Serbian swingman Mihajlo Bogdanovic (198-1996) with 25 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Undefeated TSU have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Dinamo V. at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. TSU will play against Irkut (#7) in Irkutsk in the next round where they are favorite. Dinamo V. will play on the road against Chelbasket (#9) in Chelyabinsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Rusichi K. is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to ninth ranked CSKA-2 (3-3) 98-64 on Saturday evening. Filipp Gafurov notched 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 21 points by Gennady Denisov did not help to save the game for Rusichi K.. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA-2 moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Rusichi K. still closes the standings with six games lost. CSKA-2 will meet at home higher ranked Tambov (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rusichi K. will play against Zenit-2 (#15) in Saint Petersburg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
There were no big surprises in other games of round 6: Irkut beat Chelbasket on the road 74-60. Novosybirsk won against Lok.Kuban on its own court 71-66. Univ.Surgut managed to outperform Kupol-Rodniki in a road game 75-70. MBA-2 recorded a loss to Khimki at home 64-68. Tambov crushed Zenit-2 on the opponent’s court 77-58.

Even 16 points by Sergey Mikhalev (194-1993) did not help to save the game for Chelbasket. Point guard Dmitriy Zlobin (187-1988) added 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Irkut moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Chelbasket.
