Charles Barkley has urged an NBA team to sign Tony Snell so that Snell can reach a 10th year of NBA service. This milestone would make him eligible for the player’s association premium medical plan, providing essential healthcare coverage for Snell’s wife and children.
The 32-year-old Snell, who revealed his diagnosis with autism spectrum disorder last summer, has been playing with the Maine Celtics in the G League, seeking an NBA roster spot before the Friday deadline to qualify for retiree benefits and healthcare coverage.
“The NBA’s been great to all of us sitting up here and you guys are gonna be playing basketball for ever making a gazillion dollars,” Barkley said. “I hope one of you guys signs Tony so his two autistic kids can great medical care.”
