In the ongoing EuroLeague offseason, FC Barcelona has made a decisive move by turning down Panathinaikos’ lucrative offer for Jan Vesely.
The 33-year-old Czech center had signed a three-year deal with Barcelona on 1 July 2022 and showcased his skills during the 2022-23 season, averaging 9.3 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 20 minutes per game.
George Zakkas reported via Twitter that Panathinaikos attempted to acquire Vesely by offering €1 million to Barcelona to release him from his contract. Additionally, the Greek team offered a substantial €4 million two-year contract to the experienced player. However, Barcelona chose to reject the offer, affirming their intent to retain Vesely for the upcoming season.
With Barcelona’s rejection, Panathinaikos will now explore alternative options in their pursuit of strengthening their roster for the upcoming EuroLeague campaign.
