Another Lakers head coaching candidate close to dropping out of race

Amid the Lakers’ coaching search following Dan Hurley’s decision to remain with UConn, another top candidate, James Borrego, is edging closer to securing a head coaching role with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported, via Matt Johnson of Sportsnaut, growing momentum behind Borrego’s candidacy with the Cavaliers, suggesting that other coaching candidates have shifted their focus elsewhere.

Borrego, currently an assistant coach with the New Orleans Pelicans, has been in contention for the Lakers’ coaching vacancy, but recent developments indicate a potential move to Cleveland.
