Alvin Gentry on Kings: “Do I think we have a championship team? No, let’s be realistic”

Sacramento Kings head coach Alvin Gentry looks on during the second half of an NBA basketball game against the Charlotte Hornets, Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, in Charlotte, N.C. (Matt Kelley/AP)

The Sacramento Kings closed the year with a loss against the Dallas Mavericks (96-112). It was their fourth defeat over the last six games. With 15 wins and 22 losses the Kings are in the 11th place in the Western Conference.

After the game Sacramento’s interim coach Alvin Gentry was blunt when talking about his team’s expectations for this season.

“Do I think we have a championship team? No, let’s be realistic, but if we have the guys play to their ability and the coaches do a good job in preparation, game plans and stuff, then why can’t we accomplish what we set out to do?” Gentry said via James Ham.
