The hype surrounding next year’s projected number one draft pick Victor Wembanyama is huge. It receive a further boost following his two exhibition games in Las Vegas against the G League Ignite in which he scored 37 and 36 points respectively.
Executive around the NBA are speaking privately about how they expect teams to tank heavily the season for a chance to draft the French prodigy. NBA commissioner Adam Silver does not want that to happen and would like teams to compete.
“I know that many of our NBA teams are salivating at the notion that potentially through our lottery, they can get him, so they should all still compete very hard next season,” Silver said, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
