There is “a lot of pessimism” that a Kevin Durant trade gets completed sometime in the near future, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.
Begley adds that part of the pessimism involves trying to get a third or fourth team to help facilitate a deal that the Nets deem “suitable.”
“There was not a lot of interest around the league as of last month about teams acting as that third and fourth team as a conduit to get something done,” said Begley.
Rival executives are reportedly skeptical over the Nets desire to actually trade Durant due to their high asking price.
Zach Lowe of ESPN reported last week that the team was still holding out hope that Durant would retract his trade request.
