More on this storyline

By Saturday night, as people around the world were digesting the implications of the massive Doncic trade, multiple sources told ESPN that the Warriors were already deep into negotiations with the Phoenix Suns to reunite Durant with the franchise he won two Finals MVPs and championships with in 2017 and 2018. The teams had secretly been talking since early that week. Durant and his longtime business manager, Rich Kleiman, only learned of the stunning talks when the Suns played the Warriors on Friday, Jan. 31. -via ESPN / February 7, 2025
Mike Curtis: Anthony Davis on walking into a situation where Mavs fans are heartbroken after Luka Doncic was traded to LA: “I understand it. Obviously, it’s a business. I get who Luka was to this franchise & this city. I’m never going to downplay that, just how I know what I meant to the city of LA. I’m not surprised by the fan reaction & city’s reaction. It’s my job to come in & play basketball & do what I’m supposed to do & give the fans hope and assurance on who I am. Idk how tomorrow’s going to be as far as the reaction. I can’t control that. At the end of the day, I’m going to give the city life back. Obviously, it’s a tough transition. It’s a shock to all. My job is to come in & play basketball & win basketball games.” -via Twitter @MikeACurtis2 / February 7, 2025
Brad Townsend: Anthony Davis: “I know who Luka was to this franchise and this city. I’m never going to downplay that. I’m not surprised by the fan reaction and city reaction. It’s my job to come in and play basketball and do what I’m supposed to do.” -via Twitter @townbrad / February 7, 2025
